يحكى أن رجلا كان يتمشى في أدغال افريقيا حيث الطبيعة الخلابة،

وحيث تنبت الأشجار الطويلة، بحكم موقعها في خط الاستواء،

وكان يتمتع بمنظر الأشجار وهي تحجب أشعة الشمس من شدة كثافتها،

ويستمتع بتغريد العصافير ويستنشق عبير الزهور التي تنتج منها الروائح الزكية،

وبينما هو مستمتع بتلك المناظر الخلابة،

فجأة سمع صوت عدو سريع يقترب منه باطراد، التفت الرجل إلى الخلف،

إذا به يرى أسداً مخيفاً ينطلق نحوه بسرعة خيالية،

ومن شدة الجوع كان الأسد ضامر الخصر،

أخذ الرجل يجري بسرعة والأسد يطارده من خلفه،

وعندما اخذ الأسد يقترب، رأى الرجل بئراً قديمةً،
فوثب وثبةً عاليةً فإذا هو في البئر،
وأمسك بحبل البئر الذي يسحب به الماء،

أخذ الرجل يتمرجح داخل البئر،
وعندما التقط أنفاسه و سكن روعه، وهدأ زئير الأسد،

إذا به يسمع فحيح ثعبان ضخم الرأس عريض الطول في جوف البئر،

وفيما هو يفكر بطريقة يتخلص منها من الأسد في الخارج والثعبان في الداخل،
إذا بفأرين أحدهما أسود والآخر أبيض يصعدان إلى أعلى الحبل، ويبدءان بقرض الحبل.
انهلع الرجل خوفاً،

أخذ يهز الحبل بيديه لتخويف الفأرين،
واشتد في ذلك حتى صار يتمرجح يميناً و شمالاً داخل البئر ويصطدم بجوانبه،
وفيما هو يصطدم أحس بشيء رطب ولزج،
لمس مرفقه،
وإذا بذلك الشيء عسل النحل،

تبني بيوتها في الجبال وعلى الأشجار وكذلك في الكهوف،

قام الرجل يتذوق العسل فأخذ لعقةً ثم كررها،
ومن شدة حلاوة العسل نسي ما هو فيه من موقف مهيب،
وفجأة استيقظ الرجل من النوم،

لقد كان حلما مزعجا !!!
وقرر الرجل أن يذهب إلى شخص يفسر له الحلم،
وذهب إلى عالم واخبره بالحلم فضحك الشيخ وقال : ألم تعرف تفسيره ؟
قال الرجل: لا.
قال له الأسد الذي يجري ورائك هو ملك الموت،

والبئر الذي به الثعبان هو قبرك،

والحبل الذي تتعلق به هو عمرك،

والفأران الأسود والأبيض هما الليل والنهار يقرضان عمرك،
