تعد الاتحادية الجزائرية للتزحلق و الرياضات الجبلية من بين أقدم الاتحاديات الوطنية التي يعود تاريخ انشائها الى سنة 1963 الا أن وتيرة نشاطها و عدد الرابطات الولائية التي تنشط تحت لوائها يبقى بعيدا كل البعد عن طموحات وآفاق القائمين عليها.

فهذه الرياضة التي تبقى مجهولة لدى الكثير وحتى عند اولائك الذين يضعون انفسهم في خانة العارفين بحيثيات النشاطات الرياضية لم تتمكن بعد من اخذ مكانتها الحقيقية في الساحة بسبب قلة الامكانيات المتاحة و نقص المرافق بالاضافة الى التكلفة الكبيرة التي يتطلبها العتاد اللازم لممارستها على حد تاكيد رئيس الاتحادية الجزائرية للتزحلق و الرياضات الجبلية حمدان مزيان. فالجزائر بطبيعتها الجبلية الساحرة و الغنية تتوفر على فضاء طبيعي غني يتيح لهواة الرياضات الجبلية ممارسة هذا النشاط البدني و الاستكشافي بشكل كبير لكن الثراء الطبيعي وحده لا يكفي لتحقيق هذه الممارسة و الرقي بهذه الرياضة الى طموحات القائمين عليها باعتبار ان هذا الامر يبقى مرهونا اكثر بشروط اخرى "منطقية وعادية جدا" لكن غيابها المستمر يجعل المتحدث عنها و المطالب بها وكانه يطالب بامور تعجيزية.
