my mom had only one eye..i hated her she was sush an embarrassment.
امي كانت لها عين واحده فقط..فكرهتها لأنّها كانت مصدر احراج لي.
she cooked for student and teachers to support our family
و كانت تطبخ للتلاميذ والأساتذه كي تعيل اسرتنا.
there was this one day during elementary school where my mom came to say hello to me
و في مرة من المرات خلال دراستي في المرحله المتوسطه، جاءت امي لكي تتفقدني .
i was so embarrased.how could she do this to me
فكنت محرجا جدا، وكنت أتساءل كيف تفعل بي هكذا ؟!.
i ignored her,throw her a hateful look and ran away
فتجاهلتها، ورميتها بنظره لشمئزاز وانطلقت بعيدا.
the next day at school one of my classmates said"EEE your mother has only one eye !!"
في اليوم التالي قال لي واحد من زملائي "اوووو امك عندها عين واحده فقط".
i wanted to bury myself,i just wanted my mom to disappear
في تلك اللحظه كنت أريد أن ادفن نفسي، كنت فقط أرغب في أن تختفي امي إلى الأبد.
so i confronted her that day and said:"if you are only going to make me a laughing stock,why don't you just die!!"
فواجهتها في ذلك اليوم وقلت لها : اذا كنت ستجعلينني أضحوكة فلماذا لا تموتين أحسن ؟!
my mom did not respond..
لكنها لم تجبني
i didn't even stop to think for a second about what i had said,because i was full of anger>
لم أتوقف و لو لحظة للتفكير فيما قلته لأنني كنت في حالة غضب شديد
i was oblivious to her feelings
كنت متجاهلا لمشاعرها.
i wanted out of that house and have nothing to do with her
أردت فقط ترك المنزل، و لم أعبأ بها على الإطلاق
so i studied real hard and got a chance to go study abroad
لذلك كنت أدرس جيّدا لكي أحصل على منحة للدراسة في الخارج
then i got married,i bought a house of my own and i had kids of my own
بعد فترة تزوجت واشتريت منزلا و انجبت اولادا.
i was happy with my life,my kids and the comforts
كنت سعيدا بحياتي واولادي و الرفاهية التي بلغتها .
then one day my mom came to visit me
وفي يوم من الايام جاءت امي لزيارتي.
she hadn't seen me in years and she hadn't even met her grandchildren
لم ترني منذ سنين، و لم يسبق لها أن رأت أحفادها على الإطلاق.
when she stood by the door,my children laughed at her,and i yelled at her for coming over uninvited
عندما وقفت على عتبه الباب سخر منها أولادي..و صرخت في وجهها لمجيئها بدون أن أدعوها
i screamed at her"how dare you come to my house and scare my children"GET OUT OF HERE now
و زجرتها قائلا : كيف تتجرأين على المجيء إلى بيتي و تخويف أطفالي ؟ ارحلي من هنا فورا .
to this,my mother quietly answered"oh,im so sorry i may gotten the wrong address ".and with that she disappear
ردت أمي بصوت هادئ : انا اسفه اظن انني أخطأت في العنوان.و بعد ذلك اختفت.
one day,i received letter regarding my school reunion
في يوم من الايام تلقيت رساله من المدرسة لحضور اجتماع .
after the reunion,i went to the old shack just out of my curiosity
و بعدهقررت أن أعرّج على المنزل القديم فقط من باب الفضول.
the neighbors said that my mom had died
فأخبرني الجيران بأن أمي قد توفيت.
i did not shed i single tear
و لم تنزل من عيني دمعة واحدة.
they handed me a letter that she had left for me to read
و قدّموا لي رسالة ذكروا أن أمي تركتها لي.
my dearest son:i think of you all the time,i im sorry that i came to your house and scare your children
ابني العزيز..انا افكر فيك طول الوقت..وانا اسفه لانني أتيت لبيتك وأخفت اطفالك.
i was so glad when i heard you were comig for the reunion
و قد غمرتني الفرحة عندما سمعت أنك قادم للاجتماع.
but i may not be able get out of bed to see you
لكنني على الأرجح غير قادرة على مغادرة السرير لرؤيتك.
im sorry that i was a constan embarrassment to you when you were growing up
أنا آسفة لأنني كنت مصدر احراج لك عندا كنت صغيرا.
you see..when you were very little ,you got into an accident>>and lost your eye
سأقول لك شيئا :عندما كنت صغيرا تعرضت لحادث وفقدت عينك.
as a mother i couldn't stand watching you have to grow up with one eye
كأم، لم أستطع تحمّل رؤيتك تكبر وانت بعين واحده فقط.
so i give you mine
فأعطيتك عيني.
i was so proud of my son who was seeing a whole new world for me with that eye
كنت فخورة جدا لأن ابني أصبح يرى عالما جديدا بتلك العين التي منحتها له.
