تتابع صحيفة إندبندنت البريطانية تحقيقا في بيع شركتي بووتس وموذركير البريطانيتين رضاعات أطفال مصنوعة من مادة كيميائية يخشى علماء أنها قد تسبب سرطان الثدي واعتلال القلب والسمنة وفرط النشاط واضطرابات أخرى.


وأشارت الصحيفة إلى أن سلوك أكبر شركتين لمنتجات الأطفال الرضع في بريطانيا يتناقض مع شركات التصنيع الأخرى التي أوقفت بهدوء إضافة مادة بايسفينول أي، أو بي بي أي، إلى الرضاعات لتهدئة مخاوف الآباء وسط دراسات مشابهة في


المجلات الطبية تربط تلك المادة بمشاكل صحية خطيرة في حيوانات التجارب.


ويذكر أن كندا وثلاث ولايات أميركية هي كنيتيكت ومينسيوتا وويسكنسون قد حظرت وضع هذه المادة في رضاعات الأطفال وقالت منظمة الأغذية والعقاقير الأميركية إنها قلقة من تأثير المادة على الرضع والأطفال الصغار وتؤيد رفعها


من منتجات الإرضاع.


ومع ذلك فإن بي بي أي -وهي مادة هرمونية منتجة صناعيا تضاف إلى البلاستيك لتقسيته- قانونية في بريطانيا ومعظم أنحاء العالم وقد استمرت شركتا بووتس وموذركير في بيع مخزون قديم يحتوي على المادة المثيرة للجدل دون الإشارة


إليها على عبوة التغليف.


كذلك تبيع بووتس رضاعات بي بي أي موسومة بشخصيات ديزني مصنوعة من قبل شركة أخرى، تومي تيبي، كانت قد أزالت


بي بي أي من رضاعاتها.


ويشار إلى أن أكبر ست شركات في الولايات المتحدة بما في ذلك ديزني أوقفت تصنيع منتجات بي بي أي العام الماضي بعد غضب علمي من فشل منظمة الأغذية والعقاقير الأميركية في معالجة تأثيرها المحتمل.


لكن بووتس وموذركير وديزني تصر على أن رضاعات بي بي أي آمنة، رغم أنها أمرت بإزالتها من الإنتاج الحالي.


ومن جانبها شنت جمعية سرطان الثدي ببريطانيا حملة تدعو لإزالة بي بي أي من منتجات الأطفال الرضع واستهجنت استمرار بعض تجار التجزئة في بيع المخزون من تلك المادة في بريطانيا رغم سحب منتجات مشابهة من البيع


في أميركا وكندا.


وبحسب بعض العلماء المستقلين قد تكون مادة بي بي أي سببا أساسيا في مجموعة من الأمراض السريعة الانتشار في الغرب بما في ذلك السكري ومشاكل الخصوبة وتشوهات الولادة. ويبلغ القلق مداه بانتقالها من الأمهات الحوامل إلى الأجنة في


أرحامهن والأطفال الصغار.


ومن الجدير بالذكر أن مادة بي بي أي موجودة في العبوات القصديرية والمشروبات المعلبة حيث تستخدم في تقسية البطانة الداخلية لعلب القصدير. كما أنها تستخدم في مجموعة كبيرة من منتجات البلاستيك مثل الهواتف النقالة


والحواسيب والمعدات الطبية.


كذلك أكد باحثون أن مادة بي بي أي قد تعمل كمشوش للغدد الصماء، وهي مادة تحاكي الهرمونات البشرية الطبيعية وأن الرضع والأطفال الصغار هم الأكثر عرضة للخطر لأنهم ما زالوا يمرون بكثير من عمليات النمو التي تدخل فيه


الهرمونات. ومن ثم يؤكد الباحثون على ضرورة حظر المادة كليا.
