فجرت وسائل الإعلام الزامبية مفاجأة كبيرة عندما كشفت أن المنتخب السوداني لم يواجه منتخبها القومي وديا وإنما لعب أمام نادٍ محلي ارتدى لاعبوه قمصان المنتخب الوطني لمغالطة الفريق السوداني الذي يستعد للمشاركة في نهائيات النسخة الثانية من أمم إفريقيا التي ستحتضنها* ‬الخرطوم*.‬

وكان المنتخب السوداني قد لعب مباراتين وديتين بزامبيا فاز في الأولى بهدفين دون مقابل وتعادل في الثانية دون أهداف، ونقل موقع زامبيا فوتبول تصريحا لنائب رئيس الاتحاد الزامبي لكرة القدم الذي أكد فيه دهشته لهذا الأمر، وقال أن بعثة السودان كانت تعلم أنها ستواجه فريق زيسكو قبل إلغاء المباراة واستبداله بفريق نجانغا رينجرز، وأضاف ان الاتحاد الزامبي أبلغ الاتحاد السوداني أنه ليس لديه منتخب حاليا وأن معظم لاعبيه من المحترفين وهناك القليل من لاعبي المنتخب يلعبون بالداخل، كما أن الموسم في فترة توقف. وأضاف أنه لا يعلم بأمر اللباس لأن المباراة أقيمت عندما كان عائدا مع المنتخب الزامبي الأولمبي من العاصمة الزيمبابوية هراري وتعرض مسؤولو المنتخب السوداني لموجة من الانتقادات بعد هذه الحادثة خاصة وأن رئيس البعثة كان قد نفى في وقت سابق هذه الحادثة مشيرا أنهم واجهوا المنتخب الزامبي* ‬للمحليين* ‬الذي* ‬لا* ‬وجود* ‬له* ‬على* ‬حد* ‬* ‬تأكيد* ‬وسائل* ‬الإعلام* ‬الزامبية*. ‬
