بن علي إلى الزعماء العرب:
أصحاب الجلالة والفخامة والسمو.. أوجه إليكم هذه الرسالة وأنا أتنفس الصعداء لأنني نجوت أخيراً من بطش شعبي، ونزلت إلى الأرض بعد أكثر من عشر ساعات أمضيتها طائراً في الجوي بحثا عمن يؤويني إليه بعدما رفض كل أصدقائي الغربيين استقبالي، رغم أنني استنفدت حياتي وحكمي كله في طاعتهم وتنفيذ أوامرهم.. أصحاب الجلالة والفخامة والسمو.. تعلمون أن لي معكم قواسم مشتركة كثيرة، ميزتنا نحن القادة العرب عن غيرنا من قادة دول العالم الآخر.. تعلمون أيها القادة أنني بعد ذلك، وكما هو منهجكم الحكيم، عمدت إلى تكميم أفواه شعبي ومنعته حرية الكلام وحرية التجمع وحرية التفكير وحرية الانتظام، وحرمته حتى مع استسلامه من حرية العيش بكرامة.. لقد صرت الملك الأوحد فوقهم، وعلمتهم أنني القائد الملهم، والرجل الحكيم الذي لا يخطئ، وأنني أعلم كل شيء، وأعرف كل شيء وأفهم كل شيء، رغم أنني لم أتعلم يوماً ولم أحصل على أي شهادة مدرسية في حياتي؛ فأنا –كما هو حالكم جميعا أيها القادة العرب- جئت من المؤسسة العسكرية جاهلاً منغلقاً، وحكمت على شعبي بقوة السلاح التي لا تقهر أصحاب الجلالة والفخامة والسمو.. تعلمون أنني عمدت إلى وسائل الإعلام وجعلتها أبواقاً تسبح بحمدي وتمجدني ليلاً ونهاراً، وجعلتها تنقل كل زيارة أؤديها لكم، وكل حفل فاخر أقيمه على شرف أحدكم، واتخذتها وسيلة للتحريض على المعارضة بالخارج ووصفها بالعمالة والجبن والتآمر وخيانة البلد، فلم أدع وصفاً منفراً إلا وألصقته بقادتها من إرهابيين وخونة ومتآمرين ومخربين ومحرضين على الفتنة.. إلى غير ذلك من صفات تحفظونها جميعاً وهي أكثر ما يرد في وسائل إعلامكم.. لقد صادرت حريات الجميع، ومنعت وسائل الإعلام الحرة من التواجد في بلدي، متهماً إياها بالتجسس علينا لصالح الأجنبي والتحريض على الفتنة.. لقد نجحت خلال فترة حكمي في تثبيت صورة القائد "الصنم" والأوحد الذي لا غنى للشعب عنه، والذي لا يمكن أن يبقى البلد قائما بدونه، ولا يمكن أن تقوم تنمية بدونه، لقد غرست هذه الأفكار في عقول وقلوب جيل كامل من شعبي.. أمضيت سنوات طويلة وأنا أكرس كل يوم دعائم حكمي بقوة حتى بات شبحي يسكن في مخيلة كل مواطن تونسي؛ فالقضاء قضائي والتشريع تشريعي والقانون قانوني والدستور دستوري والإعلام إعلامي، كل شيء في تونس طبعته باسمي وجعلته يتحرك بأمري وإرادتي.. أصحاب الجلالة والفخامة والسمو.. بعد كل ما ذكرته آنفاً مما تشتركون معي فيه ومما نتقاسمه من صفات، رأيتم اليوم كيف أنني هربت وتركت شعبي يواجه مصيره ويصنع مستقبله بنفسه.. هربت دون أن يكون لي دور ولو ضعيف في صناعة التغيير الذي فرضه علي شعبي.. هربت لأنني خفت منهم، فلم يعد شعبي ذلك القطيع الذي كنت أهش عليه في كل يوم وأسوقه حيث أريد.. لقد ثاروا كما لم أتصور البتة أنهم سيفعلون، وأرادوا أن يرموني في مزابل التاريخ.. صدقوني لقد رأيت في وجوههم أنهم أرادوا ذلك حقاً، فلم تنفع معهم وعودي لهم بالتغيير والانسحاب الهادئ من الحكم... لقد فهمتهم متأخراً وعرفت أنني لم أعد قادراً على مواجهة غضبهم، رغم أنني قتلت الكثيرين منهم في آخر ساعات حكمي عليهم، لكنهم لم ينكسروا هذه المرة وواجهوا نيراني المشتعلة بصدورهم العارية القوية وإرادتهم الصلبة.. لقد جعلوني كما رأيتهم أفهم نفسي وأعيدها إلى حقيقتها، فأنا في حقيقتي جبان فعلاً -كما أنتم أيها القادة- ولا أقدر على مواجهتهم، إنما كنت أحتمي بالمطيعين لي منهم، ولا أرى اليوم أن أياً منهم بات يطيعني فخفت من بطشهم وثأرهم، وهربت إلى حيث أتمنى أن أعيش بقية عمري هادئاً قبل أن تلحقني ثورتهم.. فهل تعتبرون أيها القادة الرفاق..؟
