توفي الفريق سعد الدين الشاذلي رئيس اركان الجيش المصري خلال اكتوبر 1973، اليوم الخميس، عن عمر يناهز 92 عاما، كما افادت وكالة انباء الشرق الاوسط المصرية.

وولد الشاذلي في قرية بمركز بسيون في محافظة الغربية (دلتا النيل) عام 1922. وهو يعتبر من ابرز العقليات العسكرية التي خططت لحرب اكتوبر حيث نجحت خطته التي اطلق عليها "المآذن العالية" في تدمير خط برليف العسكري الاسرائيلي، وهي التحصينات التي وصفت بانها لا تقهر ولا يمكن تدميرها.

وكانت حياته العسكرية مليئة بالانتقالات والمناصب حيث كان مؤسس وقائد اول فرقة قوات مظلية مصرية (1954 - 1959) الى جانب توليه قيادة القوات العربية الموحدة في الكونغو ضمن قوات الامم المتحدة (1960 - 1961)، ومنصب ملحق عسكري في لندن (1961-1963)، وبعد عودته تولى قيادة لواء مشاة ثم تولى قياد القوات الخاصة (المظلات والصاعقة) (1967-1969)، وقيادة منطقة البحر الاحمر (1970-1971)، وكان توليه رئاسة هيئة اركان القوات المسلحة المصرية (1971-1973) اخر مناصبه العسكرية.

وبعد تركه الخدمة بالقوات المسلحة عين الفريق سعد الدين الشاذلى سفيرا لمصر في بريطانيا من 1974 الى 1975 ثم سفيرا لمصر لدى البرتغال 1975-1978.

ونتيجة اختلافه مع الرئيس المصري الراحل محمد انور السادات على اثر توقيع الاخير اتفاقيات كامب ديفيد ترك منصبه في البرتغال وتوجه الى الجزائر عام 1978 حيث طلب اللجوء السياسي.

وقام الشاذلي خلال وجوده في الجزائر بكتابة مذكراته عن حرب اكتوبر التي حمل فيها السادات مسؤولية اتخاذ قرارات خاطئة تسببت في ثغرة الدفرسوار.

وقد تسببت هذه المذكرات في تقديمه لمحاكمة عسكرية بتهمة افشاء اسرار عسكرية وحكم عليه غيابيا بالسجن ثلاث سنوات مع الاشغال الشاقة قضاها كاملة اثر عودته الى مصر عام 1992 بعدما قضى 14 عاما في منفاه وذلك رغم صدور قرارات من اعلى محكمة مدنية بتبرئته والافراج عنه مباشرة.

خلف الشاذلي وراءه مجموعة من المؤلفات من بينها، اضافة الى "حرب أكتوبر"، "الخيار العسكري العربي" و"الحرب الصليبية الثامنة" و"أربع سنوات في السلك الدبلوماسية".

انا لله و انا اليه راجعون أذكر اثناء حرب العراق كان يطل علينا هذا البطلكي يبسط لنا استراتيجيات الحروب و يشرح لنا تعقيداتها اذكر بشاشته رغم اني كنت صغيرة الا اني كنت اصغي اليه باعجاب كبير رافقني حتى الان.
رحل البطل قبل ان يشهد انعتاق بلده من الدكتاتور لكنه اكيد كان يدرك بأن بلده سوف تتحرر و لو نسبيا
كان جزاء تضحياتك المنفى و الحبس في الدنيا اما الاخرة ادعو العلي القدير ان يجعل مثواك الجنة مع الشهداء و الصديقين و يلهم ذويك الصبر و السلوان .
