الأسماك تتكيف بسرعة مع سموم النهر
أكد علماء أمريكيون أن أسماك القد في نهر هودسون بالولايات المتحدة تحورت بشكل سريع لحماية نفسها من تزايد كميات السموم في النهر على مدى عقود.

وأشار الباحثون تحت اشراف إساك ويرجين من كلية الطب بجامعة نيويورك أن المسؤول عن هذه التحورات هو جين واحد.
ونشر الباحثون نتائج دراستهم الخميس في مجلة ساينس.
وتعيش سمكة القد التي يبلغ طولها نحو 20 سنتمترا في قاع الأنهار وهي واسعة الانتشار. غير أن العلماء أشاروا في مجلة ساينس إلى عدم وجود اهتمام اقتصادي كبير بهذه الأسماك.
وتعرض نهر هودسون للتلوث في الفترة من عام 1947 إلى عام 1976 من قبل مصنعين تابعين لشركة جنرال اليكتريك بطول 315 كيلومترا من النهر وذلك بسبب القاء المصنعين ما يقرب من 590 ألف طن من المواد السامة.
وقال ويرجين ان نسبة السموم التي تم رصدها في كبد الأسماك هي أعلى نسبة يسجلها الباحثون في كبد الأسماك.
ولم يعرف الباحثون كيفية تأقلم الأسماك مع هذه الظروف.
واصطاد ويرجين وزملاؤه الكثير من الأسماك من مناطق نظيفة نسبيا ومناطق ملوثة في نهر هودسون وبحثوا في مجموعها الوراثي عن جينات مثل الجين ايه اتش ار2 الذي يشارك البروتين الناتج عنه في تنظيم التأثير السمي.
