سفاح ليبيا حسب صحيفة نيويورك تايمز

ناشدت صحيفة نيويورك تايمز الأميركية مجلس الأمن بضرورة فرض عقوبات على العقيد الليبي معمر القذافي وعائلته وأزلامه الآخرين بما في ذلك تجميد ممتلكاتهم في الخارج وحظر سفرهم لمسؤوليتهم عن قمع شعبهم.
وقالت الصحيفة -في افتتاحيتها اليوم تحت عنوان "سفَّاح ليبيا"- إن على مجلس الأمن فرض حظر مجددا على كافة مبيعات الأسلحة إلى ليبيا إذا لم تتوقف حكومتها على الفور عن ارتكاب أعمال قتل.
وأضافت قائلة "ولأن مجلس الأمن نادرا ما يتحرك سريعا، فإن على الولايات المتحدة والاتحاد الأوروبي أن يقوما من جانبهما بفرض عقوبات والضغط في ذات الوقت على الأمم المتحدة لكي تتحرك".
وكانت الصحيفة تعلق على الخطاب الذي ألقاه الزعيم الليبي أمس الثلاثاء وتوعد فيه بالقتال "حتى آخر قطرة" من دمه والموت "شهيداً".
وتابعت الصحيفة "لا يخامرنا شك في أن ما قصده حقا هو أنه سيذبح شعبه ويضحي به في سعيه المتهور للتشبث بالسلطة".
وأبانت نيويورك تايمز أن للقذافي تاريخا طويلا من البطش وتحجر القلب، مشيرة إلى أنه أعلن في 2003، وبعد سنوات من العقوبات الدولية، تخليه عن الإرهاب ومساعيه لامتلاك أسلحة نووية وكيمياوية وبيولوجية.
صحيح أن تلك التغييرات نالت استحساننا -كما تقول الصحيفة- لكن القمع الوحشي للمظاهرات المناهضة للحكومة لم تترك مجالا للشك في أنه لا يزال "مجرما دوليا".
إن على مجلس الأمن الدولي -الذي استهجن أمس الثلاثاء العنف وقال إنه ينبغي محاسبة أولئك المسؤولين عنه- أن يتبنى وسائل أكثر تحديدا للضغط على الحكومة الليبية لوقف هجماتها على شعبها والشروع في مرحلة انتقالية ديمقراطية، والأفضل أن تكون في غياب العقيد القذافي، على حد تعبير الصحيفة.
