أميركا تدعم الرئيس اليمني

حثت الولايات المتحدة المعارضة اليمنية على الإصغاء لدعوة الحوار التي وجهها الرئيس اليمني في خطاب يوم الخميس، وفي السياق نفسه قال السفير الأميركي في صنعاء إن الاحتجاجات ليست حلا في اليمن ولا بد من الحوار.
وكان صالح قد أعلن الخميس عن مبادرة لحل الأزمة السياسية في البلاد تدعو إلى الانتقال من نظام الحكم الرئاسي إلى نظام برلماني، والاستفتاء على دستور جديد للبلاد وتوسيع نظام الحكم المحلي في خطوة أولى نحو الفدرالية.
وعقب الخطاب بيوم تدفق عشرات الألوف رافضين اقتراح صالح لكن على الصعيد الدولي تلقى الرئيس اليمني اتصالا من مستشار البيت الأبيض لمكافحة الإرهاب جون برينان أبلغه فيه بترحيب أميركا بخطواته لحل الأزمة السياسية في اليمن.
وقال البيت الأبيض في بيان إن برينان أكد لصالح أنه "يجب على كل قطاعات المعارضة اليمنية الرد بشكل بناء على دعوة الرئيس صالح للمشاركة في حوار جاد لإنهاء المأزق الحالي".
وأضاف برينان أن "الحكومة والمعارضة تتقاسمان المسؤولية عن تحقيق حل سلمي للأزمة"، ونقل عن صالح تأكيده أنه لن يستخدم العنف ضد المتظاهرين.
واعتبر البيت الأبيض أن "التزاما من كل الأطراف بالمشاركة في عملية مفتوحة وشفافة تعالج الاهتمامات المشروعة للشعب اليمني يوفر طريقا سلسا لدولة أقوى وأكثر رخاء"
من جهة أخرى قال السفير الأميركي في صنعاء جيرالد فيرشتاين إن مطلب المتظاهرين بإنهاء حكم الرئيس علي عبد الله صالح المستمر منذ 32 عاما لن يحل مشاكل البلاد، داعيا للحوار بين الرئيس والمحتجين.
وأضاف في مقابلة مع مجلة السياسة الحكومية "نحن واضحون في القول إننا لا نعتقد أن المظاهرات هي السبيل الذي يمكن أن تحل من خلاله مشكلات اليمن، نعتقد أن المشكلات يجب أن تحل من خلال تلك العملية من الحوار والمفاوضات".
وتابع فيرشتاين "سؤالنا دائما هو إذا رحل الرئيس صالح ماذا أنتم فاعلون في اليوم التالي؟" في إشارة ضمنية إلى المخاوف من احتمال حدوث فراغ في السلطة يملؤه الإسلاميون.
وتخشى الولايات المتحدة من احتمال أن تؤدي الإطاحة بصالح إلى فراغ في السلطة يستغله إسلاميون متشددون في ظل وجود واحد من أنشط فروع تنظيم القاعدة على أراضيه.
وعلى الصعيد الميداني قال معتصمون في ساحة التغيير أمام جامعة صنعاء إن صالح لم يكن ليتجرأ على مهاجمتهم لولا تأييد الولايات المتحدة لمبادرته ودعمها له حسب قولهم.
ورفع المعتصمون عبوات قنابل مدمعة ألقيت عليهم تم تصنيعها في الولايات المتحدة هاتفين ضد أميركا ومؤازرتها نظام صالح.
