قال الشعبي :
حكي أن رجلاً صاد قنبره (عصفور صغير)
فقالت : ماذا تريد أن تصنع بي ؟
قال: أذبحك و آكلك
قالت : لا أشفي من قرم ولا أشبع من جوع
و لكن أعلمك ثلاث خصال هن خير لك من أكلي
أما واحده فأعلمك و أنا في يدك
و أما الثانيه فإذا صرت علي الشجره
و أما الثالثه فإذا صرت علي الجبل

قال: هاتِ الأولي
قالت: لا تلهفن علي ما فاتك
فخلاها فلما صارت علي الشجره
قال : هاتِ الثانيه
قالت : لا تصدقن بما لا يكون أن يكون
ثم طارت علي الجبل
و قالت : يا شقي لو ذبحتني لأخرجت من حوصلتي درتين زنه كل دره عشرون مثقالا
فعض شفتيه و تلهف
ثم قال لها: هاتِ الثالثه
