اختراع عين صناعية جديدة يفتح باب الأمل للمكفوفين

نجح فريق من العلماء اليابانيين على المستوى المخبري في تحويل خلايا جذعية مأخوذة من فئران التجارب إلى عين بدائية.

وتعتبر التجربة الأولى من نوعها لتكوين بنية معقدة باستخدام خلايا جذعية جينية، ما يفتح باب الأمل لدى من يعانون من مشكلات في الإبصار من خلال تعويض الأجزاء التالفة في العين البشرية، بالإضافة إلى فتح آفاق أبعد مدى بإنشاء بنوك من خلايا الشبكية السليمة لزراعتها في مرضى تلف بصرهم نتيجة مرض أو حادث.

وقال رئيس الفريق البحثي يوشيكي ساساي إن علماء فريقه استخدموا خلايا جذعية لزراعة عين في المختبر في إطار بحث جديد يزيد من احتمالات تخليق أنسجة لعلاج العمى والسيطرة على الأمراض التي يمكن أن تتلف البصر.
وأعرب ساساي عن أمله في أن تؤدي مثل هذه الزراعة إلى استعادة النظر جزئياً على الأقل في مرضى فقدوا بصرهم.

وأضاف أن فريقه نجح في استخدام الخلايا الجذعية المستخلصة من الفئران في تنمية بنية بصرية تضم الشبكية، وتحوي خلايا تتحسس الضوء وخلايا عصبية ضرورية للرؤية السليمة، ما قد يمكن من زراعة أجزاء في العين البشرية التي أصابتها أمراض مدمرة.
