"فيتامين هـ" يقلل من مخاطر الإصابة بمرض يؤثر على الخلايا العصبية

ذهبت دراسة حديثة إلى أن الأشخاص الذين يتناولون أقراص "فيتامين هـ" أقل عرضة للإصابة بمرض التصلب الوحشي الضموري الذي يصيب الخلايا العصبية التي تتحكم في الحركة فيفسدها ويؤدي للشلل والوفاة بسبب فشل التنفس. ويصيب هذا المرض ما يقرب من 5000 شخص في أمريكا وحدها كل عام.

وترجع حوالي 10% من حالات مرض الـ"als" لأسباب وراثية بينما النسبة الغالبة فتحدث لأسباب غير معروفة حتى الآن.

وتقترح الدراسة أن الأشخاص الذين يتناولون "فيتامين هـ" بكثرة تقل لديهم مخاطر الإصابة بمرض (als) الخطير. وقد أثبتت دراسة مخبرية أن "فيتامين هـ" الذي يحمي الخلايا من التأكسد يمكن أن يؤخر بدء ظهور أعراض المرض في فأر المخبر الذي عدل جينياً كي يصاب بهذا المرض.

وبسبب ندرة هذا المرض يحتاج الباحثون إلى دراسة مجموعة كبيرة من المرضى لمعرفة ما إذا كان هناك علاقة بين المرض وبين عوامل أسلوب الحياة المختلفة.

في هذه الدراسة قام الباحثون من جامعة "هارفارد" بجمع نتائج خمسة دراسات أمريكية موسعة تضمنت عينة من مليون شخص بالغ.

وقد وجد الباحثون أن هناك علاقة بين طول فترة تناول "فيتامين هـ" ونقص مخاطر الإصابة بمرض التصلب الوحشي الضموري. كما تبين أن الأشخاص الذين عند بدء الدراسة كانوا يتناولون فيتامين- هـ - الدوائي بشكل منتظم لفترة تزيد على خمسة أعوام كانوا أقل عرضة للإصابة بالمرض بنسبة 35% أقل من غيرهم ممن لا يتناولون هذا الفيتامين.

إلا أن د. إليز أورلي وفريق البحث من جامعة هارفارد يرون أن الوقت لايزال مبكراً على التوصية بتناول فيتامين -هـ - لتجنب هذا المرض الخطير، كما ذكروا في تصريحهم في الجريدة الأمريكية لعلم الأوبئة. فقد وجدوا أنه من بين المليون شخص المشاركين في الدراسة الموسعة تم تشخيص 805 حالات بالمرض، ومن بين الذين يتناولون الفيتامين لأكثر من خمس سنوات ثبت أن هناك 18 شخصاً فقط ممن أصيبوا بالمرض، بينما كان هناك 19 حالة لأشخاص كانوا يتناولون الفيتامين لسنوات أقل من خمسة.

لهذا أوصى فريق البحث بمزيد من الدراسات للتأكد من حقيقة تأثير "فيتامين هـ" على تقليل الإصابة بهذا المرض.

وبشكل عام يوصي الأطباء الأشخاص البالغين بتناول 15 مليغرام من فيتامين -هـ ـ كل يوم، وكذلك تناول الأطعمة الغنية بهذا الفيتامين مثل بذور القمح والمكسرات مثل اللوز والبندق وزيت النباتات مثل زيت عباد الشمس وزيت العصفر وبعض الخضراوات الخضراء مثل السبانخ والبروكلي.
