اكتشفت سوزان إصابتها بالسرطان في عام 2004 وقامت حينها بشراء الدفعة الأولى من علاجها بمبلغ 500 دولار، وتقول سوزان أنها نظرت حينها لفاتورة الدواء ثم لأقراصه وفكّرت كيف أن تلك الأقراص الصغيرة تناظر المجوهرات الثمينة في قيمتها!!
لم تقف سوزان بريج عند التفكير بل ذهبت لأبعد من ذلك بأن حولت بالفعل تلك الحبوب والأقراص الصغيرة إلى جزء من الحِليات التي تستخدمها في صناعة مجوهراتها!!

تعيش سوزان في منطقة ألتادينا في ولاية كاليفورنيا بالولايات المتحدة، وتبلغ من العمر 61 عاماً وتعمل ككاتبة ورسامة في مجلة للفنون.
وبدأت سوزان تنفيذ تلك الفكرة عام 2007 في أحد المعارض الفنية الطبية حين استخدمت الحبوب والأقراص لعمل إعلان لإحدى الشركات، ثم تطورت الفكرة بعد ذلك حين لم يغطي التأمين الصحي علاجها بالكامل ووجدت نفسها في مأزق مع العديد من الفواتير الغير مدفوعة!

لذا بدأت استخدام حبوب وأقراص أدوية السرطان القديمة في صناعة القلادات والأقراط وغيرها من أدوات الزينة لتغطية نفقات علاجها، وتقوم ببيع القطعة الفنية الواحدة بمبالغ تتراوح ما بين 15 إلى 150 دولار.
