يحتفل عمال العالم بعيدهم هذه الايام ..هذا العيد له قصة قديمة
قام عمال مدينة شيكاغو فى امريكا بتنظيم إضراب سنة 1886
...كانوا يطالبون بتحديد ساعات العمل ب 8 ساعات فى اليوم
بدا الاضراب يوم 1 مايو واستمر حتى 4 مايو بنجاح وبشكل سلمى
يوم 4 مايو طالب العمال بعقد اجتماع ووافقت السلطات على الاجتماع
وحضره عمدة شيكاغو وجلس العمال يستمعون لمطالب زعمائهم
فى ساعات محددة تعطى لصاحب العمل حقه وتعطى العمال حقهم فى الراحة
بعد فترة من الوقت نهض العمدة وغادر المكان ولم تمضى دقائق فوجىء
العمال برجال الشرطة وهم يفضون الاجتماع بالقوة تصايح العمال
لماذا صرحتم لنا بالاجتماع وتريدون فضه بالقوة؟؟؟
ووسط الفوضى والهياج الحاصل انفجرت قنبلة لا احد يدرى من اين جاءت
بعد 11 سنة اكتشف ان البوليس هو الذى فجر هذه القنبلة
ورد البوليس باسلحته النارية
وبدأ اطلاق النار والقبض على العمال وخرجت الصحف فى اليوم التالى وهى تتهم العمال
بالتخريب والفوضى وكانت الصحف فى معظمها مملوكة لاصحاب المصانع ورؤوس الاموال
وفى ظل هذا الجو حوكم زعماء العمال وكانت ابشع محاكمة فى تاريخ القضاء..
فقد لفقت الحكومة للعمال المقبوض عليهم تهمة تفجير القنبلة وصدر الحكم باعدام
سبعة من زعماء العمال وخفف الحكم بعد ذلك بالسجن المؤبد بدل الاعدام
وانتحر عامل ونفذ حكم الاعدام شنقا فى الاربعة الباقيين
فى الوقت نفسه الذى كان الجلاد ينفذ حكم الاعدام كانت زوجة اوجست سبايز احد العمال
المحكوم عليهم بالاعدام تقرأ خطابا كتبه زوجها لابنه الصغير جيم
" ولدى الصغيرعندما تكبر وتصبح شابا وتحقق امنية عمرى ستعرف لماذا اموت...ليس عندىما اقوله لك اكثر من اننى برىء...واموت من اجل قضية شريفة ولهذا لا اخاف الموت وعندما تكبر ستفخر بابيك وتحكى قصته لاصدقائك"
ومر الوقت وبعد 11 سنة
كشف الله سبحانه وتعالى براءة العمال
كان مدير البوليس قد خرج على المعاش ودخل فى مرض الموت
وتحرك ضميره فاعترف بالحقيقة قال: ان البوليس هو الذى رمى القنبلة وهو الذى لفق التهمة
للعمال
وهز اعتراف مدير البوليس كل ولايات امريكا كما هز قلوب العمال فى العالم كله
وطالب الراى العام باعادة المحاكمة وثبتت براءة العمال
وتقرر اعتبار اول مايو عيدا عالميا للعمال
اما جيم الصغير فقد رفع راسه بين زملائه ونشر خطاب ابيه اليه
