العلماء يؤكدون أهمية النوم الكافي في نمو عظام الأطفال

من ‫المعلوم أن للنوم فوائد كثيرة خصوصاً عندما يتعلق الأمر بصحة الأطفال، لكن الجديد هو اكتشاف العلماء أن النوم أساسي لنمو عظام الأطفال.‬‬

‫‫‫‫وأخيراً أكد العلماء ما رددته الجدّات على مرّ عقود من أن الأطفال يستيقظون فعلاً أطول قامة بعد النوم.‬‬

‫‫ولأول مرة يُثبت العلماء أن هناك علاقةً بين كمية النوم والزيادة في طول الطفل.‬‬

و‫‫خلال الدراسة سجّل عشرات الأهالي أوقات ومدة نوم أطفالهم حديثي الولادة, وقيّم الباحثون نمو هؤلاء الأطفال إلى أن أتمّوا 18 شهراً.‬‬

‫‫وأبرز ما لاحظوه كان زيادة معدل نوم بعض الأطفال خمس ساعات في اليوم على مدى يومين قبل كل قفزة واضحة في النمو, مستفيدين من ثلاث قيلولات إضافية.‬‬

و‬أظهرت ‫الأرقام أن احتمال أخذ الطفل طفرة نمو يرتفع بمعدل 43% مع كل وصلة نوم جديدة. ‬‬

‫‫ويزيد هذا الاحتمال 20% مع كل ساعة نوم إضافية ينعم بها الطفل.‬‬

‫ونشر العلماء من جامعة‪ Emory ‬في أتلانتا نتائج دراستهم في مجلة ‪ Sleep‬وقالوا إن الطفرة في النمو تظهر بعد مضيّ يومين على ساعات النوم الإضافية.‬‬

‫‫وبحسب ملاحظاتهم فإن إنتاج هرمون النمو يزيد فوراً بعد أن يغفو الطفل وأثناء مرحلة النوم البطيء. ويعتقدون أن هذا الارتفاع الهرموني هو الذي يحفّز نمو العظام, وقد يفسّر بالتالي تقارير سابقة تحدثت عن ظاهرة "آلام النمو", وهي أوجاع الأطراف التي توقظ الأطفال أثناء الليل.‬‬
