فشل محاولة أميركية لقتل العولقي

كشفت وسائل إعلام أميركية أن الهجوم الذي شنته طائرة أميركية بدون طيار فشل في استهداف أنورالعولقي ، وهو مواطن أميركي من أصل يمني يتزعم تنظيم القاعدة في جزيرة العرب وتعتبره الولايات المتحدة مصدر تهديد كبير لها.
ونسبت وكالة الأنباء الفرنسية إلى مصدر أمني وشاهد عيان القول إن الهجوم الذي شُن الخميس الماضي بمحافظة شبوة جنوب شرق اليمن، أسفر عن مقتل اثنين من عناصر التنظيم اليمنيين هما الشقيقان مساعد وعبد الله مبارك.
وأوردت صحيفة وول ستريت ومحطة سي.بي.أس التلفزيونية أمس الجمعة أن الهجوم كان يستهدف زعيم القاعدة في جزيرة العرب أنور العولقي الذي يُشتبه في أنه منسق الهجمات "الإرهابية" على الولايات المتحدة.
من جانبها نقلت صحيفة نيويورك تايمز عن مسؤولين لم تكشف عن هويتهم، أن هجوم الخميس كان جزءا من برنامج وزارة الدفاع الأميركية المتواصل لملاحقة أعضاء تنظيم القاعدة في شبه الجزيرة العربية.
وتعتبر واشنطن تنظيم القاعدة في جزيرة العرب الذي يتخذ من اليمن مقرا له، أنشط خلية إرهابية في العالم.
وبعد مقتل زعيمتنظيم القاعدة اسامة بن لادن في باكستان الاثنين الماضي، يعتقد بعض المسؤولين أن جماعة العولقي تمثل الآن أشد خطر على الولايات المتحدة والدول الغربية الأخرى.
