جلود الضفادع تشفي 70 مرضا من بينها السرطان

كشف بحث علمي جديد عن أن جلود الضفادع يمكن أن تكون علاجا لأكثر من 70 مرضا رئيسيا من بينها السرطان فقد تمكن فريق من العلماء بجامعة كوينز في بلفاست يقوده البروفيسور الايرلندى كريس شو من تحديد اثنين من البروتينات يمكن أن تنظم كيفية نمو الأوعية الدموية.
واكتشف العلماء أن بروتين أحد أنواع الضفادع ويسمى " ضفدع القرد الشمعي" يمكن أن يمنع نمو الأوعية الدموية ويمكن أن تستخدم لقتل الأورام السرطانية.
وقال البروفيسور شو إن معظم الأمراض السرطانية تنمو حتى حد معين ثم تحتاج إلى الأوعية الدموية التي تمدها بالأوكسجين مما يساعد على انتشار الورم، موضحا أن " منع الأوعية الدموية من النمو سيحد من انتشار الورم السرطاني ونموه وبالتالي القضاء عليه" ، وأضاف "نجاح البحث سيحول السرطان من تصنيفه مرض عضال إلى مرض مزمن يمكن الشفاء منه".
كما اكتشف فريق العلماء أن الضفدع العملاق من نوع "فايربيليد" ينتج بروتينا يحفز نمو الأوعية الدموية ويمكن أن يساعد المرضى على التعافي من الإصابات والعمليات الجراحية بسرعة أكبر.
وقال البروفيسور شو " هذا البروتين قادر على علاج مجموعة من الأمراض وبعض الحالات التي تتطلب تعافي الأوعية الدموية بصورة سريعة، مثل التئام الجروح وزرع الأعضاء، والقرح الناتجة عن مرض السكري، والأضرار الناجمة عن السكتات الدماغية أو أمراض القلب".
ووفقا للبروفيسورشو ، فإن العلماء وشركات الأدوية في مختلف أنحاء العالم، على الرغم من انفاقها ما بين أربعة إلى خمسة مليارات دولار على الأبحاث إلا أنهم لم يتوصلوا حتى الآن إلى دواء يمكن أن يتحكم ويراقب نمو الأوعية الدموية ، وقال "إن الهدف من عملنا في جامعة كوينز هو اطلاق طاقات الطبيعة وهناك مثل على ذلك وهو الافرازات التي تم العثور عليها من في جلود الضفادع لتخفيف معاناة البشر ، وأضاف" نحن مقتنعون تماما بأن الطبيعة تحمل حلولا لكثير من مشاكلنا الحقيقية ونحن بحاجة فقط لطرح الأسئلة الصحيحة للعثور عليها".
تجدر الاشارة الى أن فريق العلماء الذى اعد هذا البحث العلمى بقيادة البروفيسور الايرلندى كريس شو قد حصل على جائزة في حفل توزيع جوائز "الابتكار الطبي في المستقبل" في لندن يوم الاثنين الماضي عن هذا الانجاز وهو الفريق الوحيد من ايرلندا الشمالية الذي يحصل على جائزة من هذا النوع.
