<!-- Repeat body sections --> أعلنت مجموعة سيتي غروب المصرفية عن نجاح قراصنة في اختراق منظومتها والاستيلاء على بيانات أكثر من 200 ألف عميل.
وقالت المجموعة إن القراصنة تمكنوا من الاستيلاء على أسماء هؤلاء العملاء وأرقام حساباتهم المصرفية وبيانات شخصية وعناوين البريد الالكتروني الخاصة بهم.
وأكدت أن القراصنة لم ينجحوا في الوصول إلى تواريخ ميلاد هؤلاء العملاء أو حتى أرقام الضمان الاجتماعي الخاصة بهم، وأرقام بطاقاتهم المصرفية السرية.
ولفتت المجموعة، التي تعد أحد أكبر المؤسسات المصرفية في العالم، إلى أن نسبة المتأثرين بتلك القرصنة لم تتعد واحد بالمئة من عملائها.
وقال شون كيفيليان المتحدث باسم سيتي غروب في رسالة عبر البريد الالكتروني "إننا نتصل بالعملاء الذين تأثرت بياناتهم" مشيرا إلى أن المجموعة "طبقت إجراءات معززة للحيلولة دون تكرار مثل هذا الحدث".
وأضاف كيفيليان أنه "من أجل أمن أولئك العملاء لن نفصح عن تفاصيل أخرى." وقالت سيتي غروب إنها اكتشفت الاختراق الذي حدث عبر خدمة مصرفية على الانترنت أثناء مراقبة روتينية.
يذكر أن المتضررين من عملية القرصنة هم من عملاء البنك في أميركا الشمالية، إلا أن المجموعة لم تكشف حتى الآن عن هوية هؤلاء القراصنة.
لكن كما حدث مع شركة سوني اليابانية للالكترونيات التي أعلنت عن عدة اختراقات أمنية لشبكاتها هذا العام فإن سيتي قد تواجه انتقادات لأنها لم تبلغ العملاء في وقت مبكر. وتنضم سيتي إلى قائمة مطولة من الشركات التي واجهت هجمات الكترونية.
وعرضت شركة EMC لتخزين البيانات هذا الأسبوع استبدال ملايين المفاتيح الالكترونية بعدما استخدم قراصنة بيانات من الذراع الأمنية للشركة لاختراق شبكة شركة RCA ولوكهيد مارتن للأسلحة وتكنولوجيا المعلومات. وأعلنت سوني عن عدة هجمات قام القراصنة في إحداها بالوصول إلى البيانات الشخصية لنحو 77 مليون مستخدم لشبكة Play Station وQriocity، كما كشفت غوغل الأسبوع الماضي عن هجوم كبير على حسابات خدمة البريد الالكتروني GMAIL استهدف مسؤولين كبار في الحكومة الأميركية وآخرين، ورجحت الشركة أن يكون قد انطلق من الصين.
