"كان عبد الحكيم بلحاج" قائد المجلس العسكري للثوار في طرابلس، والذي ظهر كقائدٍ لعملية تحرير العاصمة الليبية في موقعة باب العزيزية قبل يومين، أميرًا لـ "الجماعة الإسلامية المقاتلة"، التي زجَّ نظام القذافي بآلاف من المنتسبين إليها في السجون على مدار سنوات التسعينيات.وكان ايضا من الذين دعموالجماعات الجزائرية بالرجال
وتأسست الجماعة الليبية المقاتلة في ليبيا في عقد التسعينيات من القرن الماضي، وهي تنظيم جهادي أسسته عناصر ليبية بعد عودتها من القتال في أفغانستان، وكان يقود الجماعة من آسيا الوسطى "أبو الليث الليبي" أحد أبرز مساعدي "أسامة بن لادن" زعيم "القاعدة" الراحل.
و"بلحاج" من مواليد عام 1966، وهو خريج هندسة مدنية، ومتزوج من اثنتين؛ مغربية وسودانية، وهاجر إلى أفغانستان عام 1988 مشاركًا في الجهاد الأفغاني في ذلك الوقت، وبعدها طاف في عدد من البلدان الإسلامية منها باكستان، وتركيا، والسودان. وكان "بلحاج" قد اعتُقل في أفغانستان وماليزيا سنة 2004، وحققت معه الاستخبارات الأمريكية في تايلاند قبل أن تسلمه لليبيا في العام نفسه، ثم أطلق سراحه في ليبيا سنة 2008، وأعلن "بلحاج" عن نبذه العنف في 2009.
ويعرف "بلحاج" في أوساط التيارات الإسلامية باسم "أبي عبد الله الصادق"، وتحول من رجل مطارد في الجماعة الإسلامية المقاتلة الليبية إلى بطل حمله الثوار لواء تحرير طرابلس، بحسب صحيفة "الشرق الأوسط" الخميس.
وتعد "الجماعة الإسلامية المقاتلة" من مكونات الثورة على حكم القذافي، ويشارك قرابة 800 من أعضائها في القتال ضمن قوات الثوار، تحت قيادة "عبد الحكيم بلحاج".
وكان الإسلاميون الليبيون تعرضوا خاصةً خلال العقدين الماضيين لعمليات قمع كبيرة، وتم سحق تمرد "الجماعة المقاتلة" في بنغازي عام 1995، وتم سجن 1800 من أفراد الجماعة، ولم يطلق سراحهم إلا بعد المراجعات الفكرية للجماعة سنة 2008، والتي أشرف عليها "سيف الإسلام القذافي".
وفي مارس من العام الماضي، أفرج نظام القذافي عن 10 من قادة الجماعة الليبية المقاتلة (ضمن الإفراج عن 214 من المحسوبين على التيار الإسلامي)، وكان من بين المفرج عنهم في تلك الدفعة "بلحاج" نفسه بصفته أميرًا للجماعة الليبية المقاتلة، وآخرون مثل "أبو المنذر الساعدي" المنظِّر الفكري والعقائدي للجماعة سابقًا، و"خالد الشريف" المسئول الأمني والعسكري للجماعة
