كشفت صحيفة «التايمز» أمس، أن الولايات المتحدة صادقت على خطط تسمح لحركة «طالبان» الأفغانية بافتتاح مقر سياسي لها في قطر، قبل نهاية العام الجاري.
وذكرت الصحيفة البريطانية، أن «هذا التحرك يمثل خطوة حاسمة على طريق المصالحة مع مرور الذكرى العاشرة لهجمات الحادي عشر من سبتمبر في واشنطن ونيويورك»، مضيفةً أن الخطوة جرى ابتكارها لتمكين الغرب من بدء محادثات سلام رسمية مع طالبان، على أمل التوصل إلى اتفاق لإنهاء الحرب الدائرة في أفغانستان منذ 10 سنوات.
وأشارت الصحيفة إلى أن سفارة «إمارة أفغانستان الإسلامية» ستُفتح في قطر قبل نهاية العام الحالي، على أمل أن تساعد في تسهيل محادثات سلام يمكن أن تؤدي إلى هدنة مع حركة «طالبان»، بعد أن حظيت بدعم زعيم الحركة الملا عمر. وتابعت أن «طالبان تريد أن تتأكد من أن أعضاء بعثتها سيتمتعون بحرية الحركة ولن يتعرضوا للمضايقات والاعتقال في العاصمة القطرية الدوحة، والتي يُعتقد أن سلطاتها وافقت على السماح للحركة بافتتاح مقر، بعد أن طلبت واشنطن أن يكون بعيداً عن تأثير باكستان».
ونقلت «التايمز» عن دبلوماسي لم تكشف عن هويته، قوله، إن «مقر طالبان في الدوحة لن يكون سفارة أو قنصلية، بل شبيهاً بمكان إقامة، بحيث يمكن معاملة الحركة مثل أي حزب سياسي، لكنها لن تكون قادرة على استخدامه لجمع التبرعات أو لدعم القتال في أفغانستان»
