سبعة مليارات عدد سكان العالم


أفاد تقرير إحصائي صادر عن منظمة الأمم المتحدة بأن تعداد سكان العالم سيبلغ سبعة مليارات نسمة بحلول نهاية أكتوبرالجاري.

وبحسب ما جاء في التقرير فإن الصين تحتل المرتبة الأولى عالمياً من حيث عدد سكانها البالغ 1.35 مليار نسمة، وتليها الهند بنحو 1.24 مليار نسمة.

وأشار التقرير الأممي إلى أنه بمعدل النمو السكاني الحالي، يتوقع أن يبلغ تعداد السكان نحو ثمانية مليارات نسمة بحلول العام 2040.
من جانبه قال المدير التنفيذي لصندوق الأمم المتحدة للسكان باباتوندي أوشوتيمن إن هذا الرقم يمثل تحدياً وفرصة سانحة على حد سواء.
وأشار إلى أنه رغم أن بعض التحديات الرئيسية تتمثل في الفقر وانعدام المساواة وزيادة الإجهاد الذي تتعرض له الموارد، فإن العالم أصبح الآن أكثر ترابطاً من أي وقت مضى، وهو ما يتيح "إمكانيات لا حصر لها".
وكانت الأمم المتحدة قد أطلقت في وقت سابق مبادرة للدعوة إلى العمل من أجل جعل العالم مكانا أفضل لأعداده المتزايدة.




وفي كلمته بهذه المناسبة قال الأمين العام الأممي بان كي مون "إن المولود رقم سبعة مليارات سيخرج إلى عالم يعج بالمتناقضات، فيوجد فائض من الغذاء بينما يعاني الملايين من الجوع.. عالم تتوفر فيه الرفاهية للبعض ويعيش كثيرون في فقر".


وأضاف أن "اللحظة التي نصل فيها إلى سبعة مليارات لا تتعلق بفرد أو بجيل واحد، ولكنها تحدّ وفرصة ودعوة للعمل من أجلنا جميعا لمواجهة الفقر المدقع وعدم المساواة، ومعالجة التحديات التي تواجه النساء والفتيات وشباب العالم، ومواجهة التمييز وانتهاكات حقوق الإنسان والعنف".

ومن بين الإجراءات العملية الأخرى التي يتحتم اتخاذها والتي تدعو إليها مبادرة السبعة مليارات، حماية البيئة وتوفير المياه والطاقة النظيفة والغذاء الكافي والتعليم المتساوي للفتيات ومواجهة تحديات التغير المناخي.

ولفت بان إلى أن المبادرة دعوة مدوية للجميع من أفراد ومجتمعات ودول وشركاء إلى تحسين حياة البشر حول العالم.
