اعتبر الممثل الجزائري عبد الباسط بن خليفة أن الأحداث التي تعيشها سوريا "سحابة عابرة"، ووصفها بأنه حارس المنطقة العربية، ولا يمكن أن تنساق إلى الفتنة والفوضى.
وفي حين أكد أن الجزائر لن تثور ضد رئيسها عبد العزيز بوتفليقة، فإنه أشار إلى أنه خطوطه الحمراء في التمثيل هي الأعمال التي تغضب الله تعالى والعباد.
وقال بن خليفة -في تصريح لـmbc.net- بخصوص الوضع في سوريا والغضب الشعبي: "أنا لا أقول بأني مع الرئيس بشار الأسد، بل مع بلد آمن"، مضيفا أن تعايش الكنيسة والمسجد في سوريا لا مثيل له، وأنا أتأسف للفتنة التي حلت، ولكنها سحابة وتمر".
وبرر الممثل الجزائري وبطل مسلسل "الحسن والحسين" سبب ذلك بالوعي الذي يمتاز به الشعب السوري، قائلا: "إنهم مثقفون سواء الشعب أو الفنانون، وواعون بالفتنة ومن يقف وراءها، إنهم الصهاينة الذين يريدون غرس الفيروس في كل بلد عربي".
وشبّه عبد الباسط بن خليفة سوريا بالحارس للمنطقة العربية، لهذا "يرغب الصهاينة في زرع الفتنة ليجدوا ضالتهم إلى بقية البلدان العربية المجاورة، ومنها لبنان"، معربا عن أمله أن يسود الأمن والأمان في سوريا، التي لم يتوقع أن تثور كغيرها.
وأوضح الممثل الجزائري "كنت أتوقع أن تندلع شرارة الثورة في تونس ومصر، لأني أعرف الحكم الديكتاتوري فيهما، لكني لم أتوقع أن يثور الشعب السوري، لأنه حارس على أمن وسلامة بلده، مع كل المذاهب السائدة هناك".
واستبعد بن خليفة في سياق حديثه، أن تمتد شرارة الثورات العربية إلى بلده الجزائر، قائلا "نحن عشنا ما عاشته تونس ومصر منذ سنوات، وحققنا الديمقراطية منذ عشرين سنة خلت".
وتابع "لقد استفاق الشعب الجزائري، بعد أن عاش الإرهاب، وأنا عشت أحداث التغيير في أكتوبر 1988".
من ناحية أخرى وبشأن أعماله الفنية، قال "بن خليفة" إنه رسم لمساره الفني خطا أحمر واحد، مضيفا "لا يمكنني أن أوافق على أي عمل يغضب الله، والعباد، فأنا ممثل مسلم، ولا أقبل الأدوار التي تخدش الحياء".

نعم من حقك ان تقول رأيك بكل صراحة , فالحرية قد كفلها لنا ديننا قبل ان يكفلها الدستور,, فمهما إختلفنا في وجهات النظر , فالاكيد لسنا دائما على صواب, والله وحده يعلم ولا علم لنا إلا ما علمنا الله
