أوردت صحيفة ''لوكانار أونشيني'' الفرنسية، أن الرئيس الأمريكي باراك أوباما ونظيره الفرنسي نيكولا ساركوزي أصدرا أوامرهما بتصفية القذافي يوم 20 أكتوبر الماضي، بعد الحصول على معلومات مؤكدة عن مكان تواجد العقيد 24 ساعة قبل يوم تنفيذ العملية.
وكتب كلود أونجيلي في صحيفة ''لوكانار أنونشيني''.. ''الساعات الأخيرة قبل وقوع الحدث الكبير يوم الخميس الماضي الذي انتهى بمقتل القذافي''، وقال إنه في ظهيرة 19 أكتوبر اتصل عقيد من البنتاغون الأمريكي بشخص من مصالح الاستخبارات الفرنسية مكلف بملف القذافي، وأخبره بأنه تم نصب كمين للقذافي في أحد أحياء سرت بعد تعقب حركته بواسطة طائرة بريداتور. وأخبر العقيد الأمريكي نظيره الفرنسي بأنه ''يجب عدم إضاعة الهدف (القذافي)، لأن بقاءه حي هو بمثابة قنبلة ذرية''.
وفي صباح اليوم الموالي، أي 20 أكتوبر، على الساعة الثامنة والنصف، بدأت ثلاث طائرات في الاقتراب من سرت، وكان الهدف تحتها هو موكب من 75 سيارة تحاول مغادرة سرت، قبل أن تبدأ ''البريداتور'' الأمريكية بالقصف، وتبعتها طائرة ميراج ''أف 1 سي أر'' الفرنسية بقصف مماثل، وبعدها قصف آخر من ''ميراج 200 دي''، وكانت الحصيلة تدمير21 سيارة، مع تأكيد إصابة القذافي بجروح.
وحسب ''لوكانار أونشيني''، كانت هناك قوات خاصة فرنسية حاضرة في المكان تراقب ما يجري، وأخبر ضابط من المخابرات مسؤوليه بالهاتف ''لقد قبض عليه حيا وهو بيد الثوار، إنهم يصرخون الله أكبر''. وأشارت الصحيفة في سياق متصل إلى دور محوري لرئيس الأركان الفرنسي الجنرال بونوا بوغا في عملية تصفية القذافي.
