جوزة الطيب هى النواة الجافة لشجرة دائمة الخضرة تتميز برائحتها القوية النفاذة ومذاقها الطيب، وقد استخدمت جوزة الطيب فى تحضير عدد كبير من الأدوية منذ مئات السنين، كما يستخدم الزيت المستخلص منها كمركب ضمن الخلطات النافعة للشعر، كما يستخدم كمضاد للتشنجات ومهدئ للمعدة فى حالة الانتفاخ، كما يستعمل مسحوق جوزة الطيب ''5 إلى 15 غ'' مضافا إلى عصير البرتقال أو الموز في علاج الإسهال، كما أن تناول نفس الكمية مع ملعقة صغيرة واحدة من العصير، مرتين في اليوم، فعالة لعسر الهضم والغثيان الصباحي، ويفيد كذلك معجون جوزة الطيب في حالة رشح الأنف، حيث يدهن به على مقدمة الأنف لإزالة الرشح، حيث أكد الكثيرون أن مفعوله سريع.
