وصف الكاتب الإسرائيلي، ألوف بين، رئيس تحرير صحيفة “هاآرتس”، مصر بأنها كانت بمثابة الحارس الشخصي لإسرائيل أثناء حكم مبارك.. وجاء هذا الوصف في معرض مقاله بصحيفة نيويورك تايمز الأمريكية، والذي تحدث فيه عن “فرصة إسرائيل المفقودة” في السلام مع الفلسطينيين.
ويقول بين إنه “بعد مضي سبعة أشهر على الربيع العربي، فإن القادة الإسرائيليين يتجاوزون حالة القلق والارتباك الأولية حول كيفية الاستجابة له، وبدأوا في تقبل حالة عدم اليقين الجديدة في المنطقة، فهم يرون بشكل متزايد أن هذه فرصة دبلوماسية لتؤكد إسرائيل على أهميتها لأصدقائها التقليديين”.
ويضيف بين: “ربما لا يرضى الغرب عن سياسة بنيامين نتنياهو إزاء الفلسطينيين، لكن إسرائيل ستظل الدولة الوحيدة في المنطقة المستقرة والديمقراطية الموالية لأمريكا، وبهذا المنطق، يجب أن تكون الحليف الذي يختاره الغرب في هذه المنطقة المضطربة”.
لكن بين يرى أن “على نتنياهو أن يعترف ويستغل الفرصة الأكبر المطروحة أمام إسرائيل، وهي الفرصة لتجنب الفشل الدبلوماسي خريف هذا العام من خلال العمل مع الرئيس الأمريكي، باراك أوباما، للتفاوض حول السلام مع الفلسطينيين ولم يعد هناك وقت طويل لذلك”. ويضيف الكاتب أنه “على مدار الثلاثين عامًا الماضية وجدت إسرائيل راحتها في استقرار الحكومات الاستبدادية المجاورة. ففي ظل حكم حسني مبارك، حافظت مصر على معاهدة كامب ديفيد وكانت بمثابة الحارس الشخصي لإسرائيل.. وفي السنوات الأخيرة، ومع تقدم مبارك في العمر والحديث عن التوريث، كان هناك نقاش بين المسؤولين الإسرائيليين عن أن مصر على وشك أن تصبح إيران أخرى مجاورة لهم.. لكن هذا التكهن لم يذهب إلى أبعد من ذلك، لأن محللي المخابرات الإسرائيلية والخبراء الأكاديميين توقعوا حدوث انتقال سلس للسلطة، وهو ما أسقطته ثورة جانفي التي أطاحت بمبارك وانتشرت بعدها الاضطرابات في دول عربية أخرى”.
