دعا المشير حسين طنطاوي، رئيس المجلس العسكري، الرئيس بوتفليقة لزيارة مصر. وتلقفت وسائل الإعلام المصرية الخبر بسرعة، ومنحته أبعادا مرتبطة بالانتخابات التشريعية التي ستجرى في 28 نوفمبر. ففي قناة ''دريم''، لم تتردد معدة برنامج سياسي في إعطاء القراءة التالية لدعوة طنطاوي: بوتفليقة سيعرض على عسكر مصر الوصفة التي استعملها الجيش الجزائري في وقف زحف الإسلاميين نحو السلطة نهاية .1991 بمعنى أن الجيش المصري سيستأنس بتجربة الجيش الجزائري، في حال حقق الإسلاميون فوزا عريضا في مصر.

لا اعتقد أن المصريين سيفكرون فيما فكر سارقوا الثورة عندنا فهم يحبون مصرهم حد الجنون ولا يرضون بها بديلا ....

ان مهمة الجيش الدستورية حماية الوطن من التهديد الخارجي و لا يتدخل في السياسة ، لكن جنرالات الجزائر في 1991 اقحموا الجيش في السياسة فوسخوا الجيش من اجل مصالحهم الخاصة ، عكس الجيش المصري و التونسي ، فهذه الجيوش هي جيوش دولة و ليس نظام ، هذا هو الفرق بين الجيشين، لكن ما حدث في 91 كان سببه الفيس و النظام و المعارضة سواء، الفيس اراد دولة ديكتاتورية دينية على خط الطالبان و السعودية و الصومال بسبب التيار السلفي المنضوي تحته، و النظام بخوفه على مصالحه الخاصة و المعارضة بانانيتها و ضيق افقها .و الحل هو نظام برلماني يحكم الجزائر حتى لا ترجع الديكتاتورية مرة اخرى.

الجيش الجزائري لم يحارب مع الامريكان ضد العراق كما فعل جيش مصر .
