يقال‏ ‏إن‏ ‏رجلا‏ ‏وجد‏ ‏كنزا‏ ‏ففرح‏ ‏به‏ ‏فرحا‏ ‏شديدا‏, ‏وأراد‏ ‏أن‏ ‏يخبر‏ ‏زوجته‏ ‏لتفرح‏ ‏مثله‏ ‏ولكنه‏ ‏خشي‏ ‏أن‏ ‏تذيع‏ ‏هذا‏ ‏السر‏, ‏فيكون‏ ‏هدفا‏ ‏للصوص‏ ‏والطغاة‏ ‏ومطامع‏ ‏الحاكم‏ ‏وأراد‏ ‏أن‏ ‏يختبرها‏ ‏فجاءها‏ ‏يوما‏ ‏وهو‏ ‏حزين‏ ‏فقالت‏ ‏مالك‏ ‏فقال‏ ‏لقد‏ ‏حدث‏ ‏لي‏ ‏حادث‏, ‏ولكني‏ ‏أخشي‏ ‏أن‏ ‏أخبرك‏ ‏به‏ ‏فتذيعيه‏ ‏فيكون‏ ‏العار‏ ‏والشنار‏,‏
فوعدته‏ ‏بأن‏ ‏تحفظ‏ ‏هذا‏ ‏السر‏ ‏فقال‏ ‏لها‏ ‏إنني‏ ‏عندما‏ ‏أصبحت‏ ‏هذا‏ ‏اليوم‏ ‏خرجت‏ ‏من‏ ‏بطني‏ ‏بيضة‏ ‏في‏ ‏حجم‏ ‏بيضة‏ ‏الدجاجة‏ ‏هذا‏ ‏هو‏ ‏السر‏ ‏الذي‏ ‏أريد‏ ‏أن‏ ‏لا‏ ‏يذاع‏, ‏وخرج‏ ‏الرجل‏ ‏إلي‏ ‏أعماله‏, ‏وخلت‏ ‏الزوجة‏ ‏لنفسها‏, ‏فدقت‏ ‏الجدار‏ ‏علي‏ ‏جارتها‏, ‏فأطلت‏ ‏عليها‏ ‏من‏ ‏أعلي‏ ‏السطح‏ ‏وأخبرتها‏ ‏أن‏ ‏زوجها‏ ‏باض‏ ‏في‏ ‏هذا‏ ‏الصباح‏ ‏بيضة‏, ‏وقال‏ ‏لها‏ ‏إن‏ ‏هذا‏ ‏الأمر‏ ‏سر‏ ‏فإياك‏ ‏أن‏ ‏تذيعيه‏ ‏فوعدتها‏ ‏بالكتمان‏, ‏ولكنه‏ ‏لم‏ ‏يأت‏ ‏المساء‏, ‏حتي‏ ‏صار‏ ‏أهل‏ ‏القرية‏ ‏
يتحدثون‏ ‏بأن‏ ‏فلانا‏ ‏باض‏ ‏كما‏ ‏تبيض‏ ‏الدجاجة‏ ‏عشر‏ ‏بيضات‏.‏
