أصدرت مجلة أريبيان بزنس قائمتها السنوية للأغنياء العرب 2011 وتضم شخصيات جديدة تدخل لأول مرة كما تضم أرقاماً جديدة لحجم ثروات بعض من دخلوا القائمة في العام الماضي وفي الأعوام السابقة.
وقد وصلت حجم ثروات أغنى خمسين عربياً إلى 256.67 مليار دولار أمريكي في العام 2011. بزيادة 4.76 %عن العام الماضي. أي أن متوسط ثروة الفرد الواحد في هذه القائمة يبلغ 5.13 مليار دولار. ولكن رغم أن هذا الارتفاع في ثروة الأغنياء العرب يعد مهماً إذا ما أخذنا بالاعتبار الظروف الاقتصادية، فانه لا يزال أقل بكثير من العام الماضي. فبين عامي 2009 و2010 زادت ثروات الأغنياء العرب الخمسين بنسبة 18.3 بالمائة.
الأسماء الثلاثة الأولى على رأس هذه القائمة بقيت دون تغيير عن العام الماضي، رغم أن كلاً منها قد زادت ثروته. والأمير الوليد بن طلال لا يزال الرقم 1 في القائمة للعام الثامن على التوالي بثروة تبلغ 21.3 مليار دولار أمريكي.
ويأتي في المرتبة الثانية بعد الأمير الوليد رجل الأعمال الاستثنائي محمد بن عيسى الجابر بثروة تبلغ 12.75 مليار دولار.
وفي المرتبة الثالثة تأتي عائلة العليان (12.4 مليار دولار) وفي المرتبة الرابعة عصام الزاهد (10.7 مليار دولار).
وقد دخل قائمة الأغنياء العرب هذا العام 8 أسماء جديدة، كان أعلاها مرتبة عائلة شومان الأسطورية الأردنية الفلسطينية الأصل، التي حلت بالمرتبة 24 بثروة بلغت 4.2 مليار دولار.
أما حسين الفردان من قطر فقد ظهر للمرة الأولى على القائمة وحل في المرتبة 30 بثروة بلغت 3.42 مليار دولار.
ولم يكن في القائمة لهذا العام سوى سيدتان هما لبنى العليان التي حلت في المركز الثالث ونايلة الحايك التي دخلت القائمة حديثاً وحلت في المرتبة 38 بثروة بلغت 3.1 مليار دولار.
والجدير بالذكر أنه قبل 5 سنوات كان يكفي أي شخص أن يملك 700 مليون دولار أمريكي كي يكون مذكوراً في قائمة أريبيان بزنس لأغنى 50 عربياً، لكن ماهو ملاحظ الآن، فإن الذي حل في المرتبة الخمسين من هذه القائمة يملك 2 مليار دولار، أي أن من أراد دخول قائمة هذا العام كان لا بد له أن يملك 2 مليار دولار على الأقل".
