تبكي النفس على الدنيا وقد علمت
ان السلامة فيها ترك مافيها
لا دار للمرء بعد الموت يسكنها
إلا التي كان قبل الموت يبنيها
فإن بناها بخير طاب مسكنه
وإن بناها بشر خاب بانيها
كم من مدائن في الآفاق قد بنيت
اضحت خرابا وأفنى الموت أهليها
أين الملوك التي كانت مسلطة
وسقاها بكأس الموت ساقيها
أموالنا لذوي الميراث نجمعها
ودورنا لخراب الدهر نبنيها
يانفس ويحك توبي واعملي حسنا
عسى تجازين بعد الموت بالحسن

المرء يبسطها والدهر يقضيها ** والنفس تنشرها والموت يطويها
إن المكارم أخلاق مطهره ** الدنيا أولها, والعقل ثانيها
والعلم ثالثها, والحلم رابعها ** والجود خامسها, والفهم ساديها
والبر سابعها والشكر ثامنها ** والصبر تاسعها ,واللين باقيها
النفس تعلم أنى لا أصادقها ** ولست ارشد الاحين اعصيها
