واشنطن تبحث لصالح عن ملاذ

قال مسؤولون أميركيون إن إدارة الرئيسباراك أوباما تبذلل جهودا مكثفة حاليا مع الرئيس اليمني علي عبد الله صالح لإيجاد مكان يلجأ إليه حتى يستطيع اليمن الذي أنهكته الاضطرابات التقدم نحو الانتقال إلى الديمقراطية، ويُفضل ألا يكون هذا المكان الولايات المتحدة.
ويقود مستشار الرئيس الأميركي لمكافحة الإرهاب جون برينان هذه الجهود الدبلوماسية التي يبدو أنها تقدمت كثيرا هذا الأسبوع عندما طلب علي صالح السفير الأميركي لدى اليمن جيرالد فايرستاين ليناقش معه أمر المكان الذي يمكن أن يذهب إليه.
وقال مسؤولون أميركيون إن الاجتماع بين صالح وفايرستاين تم بعد فترة وجيزة من تصريح وزيرة الخارجية الأميركية هيلاري كلينتون حول عدم التزام صالح بتعهده بمغادرة اليمن للسماح للانتخابات بإنهاء فترة حكمه التي استمرت أكثر من ثلاثة عقود.
وقالت أسوشيتدبرس إن علي صالح ليس أمامه خيارات كثيرة، الأمر الذي يقيد واشنطن في محاولتها العثور على دولة ترغب في استضافة رئيس "مراوغ" متهم بارتكاب انتهاكات جسيمة لحقوق الإنسان طوال عام كامل من النزاع الداخلي.
وأضافت أن منح الولايات المتحدة حق اللجوء السياسي لصالح أو الظهور بأنها تعامله معاملة تفضيلية، وهي الإدارة التي ظلت تنادي بالتغيير السلمي والديمقراطي، لن يجد الترحيب من القوى السياسية اليمنية التي ستشارك في حكومات قادمة، كما أنه سيثير غضب الناس في الدول العربية الذين يناضلون للتخلص من الحكام الفاسدين المتسلطين.
ويحاول بيرنان والمسؤولون الآخرون العثور على طرق لإبعاد صالح من اليمن في أسرع وقت ممكن حتى تتمكن النخبة السياسية اليمنية من العودة إلى العمل من أجل مكافحة الإرهاب بدلا من محاربة بعضهم بعضا.
