الرئيس اليمني مطلوب للشهادة أمام محكمة أمريكية

يبدو أن المشاكل لم تتوقف عن ملاحقة الرئيس اليمني علي عبدالله صالح، حتى بعد رحيله عن البلاد وتوجهه للولايات المتحدة طلباً للعلاج، حيث تلقى طلب استدعاء للإدلاء بشهادته أمام المحكمة في قضية تخص أحد المعتقلين في غوانتانامو على خلفية حادث تفجير المدمرة الأمريكية "كول".

وقالت صحيفة "ميامي هيرالد" الأمريكية في عددها الصادر أمس الأربعاء إن محكمة أمريكية أقرت الثلاثاء الماضي طلباً يقضي باستدعاء الرئيس اليمني المنتهية ولايته علي عبدالله صالح من مقر إقامته في أحد المستشفيات بنيويورك، حيث يتلقى العلاج جراء إصابته في محاولة اغتيال فاشلة تعرض إليها منتصف العام الماضي.

ووفقاً لذلك فقد تم استلام وختم الطلب الذي تقدم بها محامو الدفاع أول من أمس الثلاثاء لإعطاء وكالات الاستخبارات الأمريكية الوقت الكافي للتحقيق في الأمر، ومن المنتظر أن تعلق النيابة العامة في البنتاغون على الطلب ولم يكن هناك أي تعليق من جانب المتحدث باسم السفارة اليمنية في واشنطن.

وأوضحت الصحيفة أن وزارة الدفاع الأمريكية "البنتاغون" قامت بتسليم مذكرة طلب تقضي باستدعاء الرئيس صالح للإدلاء بشهادته مقدماً لدى المحكمة، مشيرة إلى أن فريق الدفاع عن أحد سجناء غوانتانامو، الذي يزعم انتماءه لتنظيم القاعدة والمتهم بتفجير المدمرة "كول الحربية" في ميناء عدن في شهر أكتوبر من العام 2000 قام بتقديم طلب إلى القاضي العسكري، لإصدار أمر يقضي باستدعاء صالح للإدلاء بشهادته في هذه القضية من داخل المستشفى الذي ينزل فيه في نيويورك.

وبحسب الصحيفة فإن "الضابط البحري ستيفن رايس رفض الإفصاح عن ماهية الأسئلة التي ينوي توجيهها للرئيس صالح ، المنتهية ولايته ، مشيرة إلى أن رايس "يتوقع أن يصدر قاضي هيئة القضاء العسكري مذكرة استدعاء ستجبر الرئيس اليمني على الشهادة على الرغم من إعلان وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية أن الرئيس البالغ من العمر 69 عاماً سيحظى بحصانة دبلوماسية كرئيس دولة".

وتتهم النيابة العامة في البنتاغون عبد الرحيم الناشري بأنه المخطط الرئيسي للهجوم الذي نفذته القاعدة على السفينة الحربية الأمريكية "يو إس إس كول" في المياه اليمنية عندما كان يمسك صالح بقوة زمام الحكم في بلاده.
