تفاصيل جديدة عن مقتل السفير الأمريكي

كشفت رسالة بالبريد الإلكتروني أن مسؤولين في وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية رفضوا في ماي الماضي طلبا من السفارة الأمريكية في طرابلس، بالسماح لفريق أمني بالاستمرار في إستخدام الطائرة الأمريكية الرسمية دي سي-3، واقترحوا عليهم بدلا من ذلك إستخدام رحلات الطيران العارض.

وكانت الرسالة، المؤرخة في الثالث من ماي، مرسلة في نفس الوقت إلى السفير الأمريكي في ليبيا كريستوفر ستيفنز، الذي قتل مع ثلاثة أمريكيين آخرين في هجوم على القنصلية الأمريكية في بنغازي في 11 سبتمبر الماضي.

ورسالة البريد الإلكتروني واحدة من الوثائق التي يفحصها المحققون الأمريكيون للتأكد ما إذا كانت وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية قد رفضت طلبات تحسين الأمن في مقار البعثات الأمريكية قبل هجوم بنغازي.

وتقول الرسالة إن نائب وزيرة الخارجية لشؤون الإدارة باتريك كينيدي "قرر إنهاء دعم سفارة طرابلس باستخدام دي سي-3 فورا". وأضافت الرسالة أن طلب السفارة "بمواصلة استخدام الطائرة لمساعدة فريق الدعم الأمني قد درس. لكن تقرر أنه عند الضرورة يقوم مكتب شؤون الشرق الأدنى بوزارة الخارجية الأمريكية بتوفير رحلة جوية خاصة لرحيلهم النهائي".

ويقوم فريق الدعم الأمني بدعم الأمن في السفارات والقنصليات الأمريكية التي تواجه اضطرابات أو توجد في دول معادية أو تواجه أي تهديد آخر.

ولم يتضح بعد ما إذا كان عدم وجود الطائرة قد لعب أي دور في المشكلات الأمنية التي واجهتها المنشآت الدبلوماسية في ليبيا والتي إنتهت بهجوم 11 سبتمبر.
