رومني يتعهد بتسليح المعارضة السورية إذا أنتخب رئيسا للولايات المتحدة

لندن- (د ب أ): ذكر تقرير إخباري الاثنين أن المرشح الجمهوري في انتخابات الرئاسة الأمريكية ميت رومني سيدعو إلى تصعيد الصراع في سورية.

وذكر موقع صحيفة الغارديان البريطانية في تقرير لها من واشنطن أن رومني أكد إنه حال انتخابه رئيسا في الانتخابات التي سيخوضها في تشرين ثان/ نوفمبر منافسا للرئيس الحالي باراك أوباما سيقوم بتسليح المعارضة السورية بالأسلحة الثقيلة التي تحتاجها لمواجهة دبابات ومروحيات ومقاتلات نظام الرئيس السوري بشار الأسد.

وأضافت الصحيفة أنه من المقرر أن يتناول رومني هذا الموضوع في وقت لاحق الاثنين في خطاب ضمن حملته الانتخابية بمدينة ليكسينتون بولاية فيرجينيا وصفه فريقه الانتخابي بأنه خطاب هام في مجال السياسة الخارجية.

وقال رومني في فقرات نشرت مسبقا من خطابه "إن إيران ترسل أسلحة إلى الأسد لأنها تعرف أن سقوطه سيكون هزيمة استراتيجية لها.ويجب علينا أن نعمل بشكل أكثر قوة مع شركائنا الدوليين لدعم السوريين الذين سيوجهون الهزيمة إلى إيران بدلا من بقائهم على الهامش".

وذكرت الصحيفة أن هذا المقترح من جانب رومني سيشكل تغيرا بارزا عن سياسة إدارة الرئيس أوباما التي تحاول جعل الصراع أقل تصعيدا وسط مخاوف من أن يتحول إلى حرب إقليمية.

ويمارس أوباما ضغوطا على السعودية وقطر المؤيدين الرئيسيين للمعارضة السورية لقصر امدادهم بالأسلحة على الأسلحة الخفيفة.

ويهدف الخطاب إلى مواجهة الانتقادات المتزايدة التى تتهم رومنى بأنه ليس لديه الكثير ليقوله فيما يتعلق بالسياسة الخارجية وأنه لم يعط أى مؤشرات عن الخطوط التى سيتبعها كرئيس للبلاد.
