دخل الطبيب الجراح للمستشفى بعد أن تم استدعاؤه لإجراء عملية فورية لأحد المرضى

وقبل أن يدخل غرفة العمليات واجهه والد المريض وصرخ في وجهه : لم التأخر؟ إن حياة ابني في خطر؟ أليس لديك إحساس ؟

فابتسم الطبيب ابتسامة فاترة وقال : أرجو أن تهدأ

وتدعني أقوم بعملي ، وكن على ثقة أن ابنك في رعاية الله.
...
فرد الأب : ما أبردك يا أخي! لو كانت حياة ابنك على المحك هل كنت ستهدأ؟ ما أسهل موعظة الآخرين؟.

تركه الطبيب ودخل غرفة العمليات ، ثم خرج بعد ساعتين على عجل وقال لوالد المريض: لقد نجحت العملية ، والحمد لله ، وابنك بخير ، واعذرني فأنا على موعد آخر.

ثم غادر دون أن يحاول سماع أي سؤال من والد المريض.

ولما خرجت الممرضة سألها الأب: ما بال هذا الطبيب المغرور؟ فقالت: لقد توفي ولده في حادث سيارة ، ومع ذلك فقد لبى الاستدعاء عندما علم بالحالة الحرجة لولدك!

وبعد أن أنقذ حياة ولدك كان عليه أن يسرع ليحضر دفن ولده.
