عادة ما يمضي كبار السن المتبقي من حياتهم في قراءة الجرائد بالشمس، لكن الأمر ليس كذلك مع الجدة الهندية شاندرو تومار التي تُعد أكبر محترفة تصويب في العالم، والتي لم تتأثر مهاراتها في التصويب بالمسدس رغم سنها الذي يصل إلى 78 عاماً.


دخلت شاندرو الكثير من مسابقات التصويب وفازت بأكثر من 25 مسابقة وطنية بالهند دون أن تتخلى عن دورها في تربية 6 أبناء و15 حفيداً، وذكرت شاندرو أنها أرادت أن تظهر للناس قدراتها وأن تقوم بشيء مفيد.

وقد بدأت الجدة الهندية في التدرب على استخدام السلاح وهي في سن 68 عاماً، حيث ذهبت مع حفيدتها إلى إحدى ساحات إطلاق النار المحلية في قريتها جوهري بالهند، فرغم رغبتها في تعلم مهارة جديدة كانت تخجل من الذهاب لوحدها، لكن مع نهاية أول يوم لها رحب بها نادي السلاح.

وقد ذكرت شاندرو أن مدرب السلاح بالساحة لاحظها واندهش من دقة تصويبها وطلب منها العودة مرة أخرى، وقد أشار المدرب فاروق باثان إلى أن الجدة تميزت بثبات اليد وقوة التصويب وقد تعلمت بسرعة كبيرة غيرت نظرته لكبار السن، وأضاف فاروق أن الكثير من الرجال لديه لم يعودوا مرة أخرى لنادي السلاح لتجنب الإهانة الناتجة عن هزيمتهم أمامها، على حد وصف موقع 2dives.

وقد أصبحت شاندرو كنزاً هندياً وطنياً، واشتهرت بمهارتها في التصويب بالسلاح بل وفازت بالجائزة الذهبية في إحدى البطولات العسكرية، ومن أبرز النجاحات التي حققتها تغلبها على مفتش الشرطة العام لمدينة ديلهي في إحدى المسابقات.

إلا أن الميداليات والجوائز لم تغير من حياتها المنزلية كثيراً، حيث مازالت شاندرو تقوم بالطهي، التنظيف والاهتمام بعائلتها والتأكد من تغذية أبنائها قبل الذهاب لساحة التدريب لممارسة هوايتها.
