الكثير من الصفات يمكنها أن تدمر الحياة الزوجية وتعقد الأمور بين الزوجين ومن بين هذه الصفات العناد فهو من أكثر الأمور التي تزيد البعد والشقاق والعناد من صفات الرجل والمرأة على السواء وكل منهم يدير العناد بطريقته الخاصة وربما تكون طريقة سليمة كالحوار والنقاش أو حتى التنازل أحيانًا وربما تكون طريقة غير سليمة وهي مقابلة العناد بالعناد وهو ما يمكن أن يدفع الحياة الزوجية إلى طريق مسدود.

وأسباب العناد بين الزوجين بحسب خبراء علم النفس تعود لأسباب كثيرة من أبرزها وصول جذور العناد عند الزوج إلى مراحل حياته الأولى نتيجة تربية خاطئة، فالطفل قد يتشبث برأيه فيبتسم الوالدان وينفذان ما يريد، ثم يتطور الأمر إلى أن يصبح شاب ليتحول بعد ذلك إلى سلوك يومي يرافقه في زواجه ويمثل نوعًا من التمرد.

وقد يكون عناد الزوج تقليدًا للأب، فالرجل الذي ينشأ ويتربى في بيت يتحكم فيه الأب ويسيطر عليه يحاول أن يقلد نفس سلوك الأب، أو وراثة العناد من الوالدين نتيجة المعاملة الأسرية.

وقد يأتي العناد لعدم التكيف مع الزوجة والشعور باختلاف الطباع فيكون العناد صورة من صور التعبير عن رفض سلوك الزوجة، وعدم الانسجام في الحياة الزوجية، كما أن من أهم الأسباب أيضًا تسلط واستبداد الزوجة برأيها واستهتارها الدائم برأي الزوج، والاستهزاء به قد يدفعه إلى طريق العناد.

وفي النهاية نقول إن الحياة الزوجية طريق للتكاتف وليست مضمارًا للتنافس، وعلينا أن ندرك دائمًا ونناقش ونحاور حول قاعدة رأيي صواب يحتمل الخطأ ورأي غيري خطأ يحتمل الصواب، حتى نتوصل لآلية معينة وقاعدة متينة في بقاء الحياة الزوجية واستمرارها.
