الكوزمولوجي أو الكوزمولوجيا أو الكسمولوجيا علم الكون الفيزيائي وهي كلمة يشير معناها إلى علم دراسة الكون وتركيبه العام أي هو [العلم] الذي يختص بداراسة أصل الكون وبنيته وتكوينه وكل ما فيه من ماده وطاقة وكلمة كوزمولوجيا وهي تشير في مجملها إلى معنى (دراسة الكون) وعلم دراسة الكون له تاريخ طويل والكثير من النظريات وهو بشكل عام بطريق مباشر أو غير مباشر متصل بكل العلوم الدنيويه ويشكل نقط تسليط الضوء من اهتمام البشرية في مختلف الأزمان والأماكن وهي دراسة مرتبطة بشكل ما بالعلم والتاريخ والفلسفة كما أنها أيضا دراسة مرتبطه بالأديان ففي معظم الديانات السماوية ذكرت بعض الأجرام السماوية ووصفها أو حركاتها كما ذكر في القرآن الكريم (The Holy Qura'an) الشمس والقمر والنجم كما إن بعض سور القرآن سميت بهذه الأسماء لأهميه هذا العلم بالنسبة للبشرية واستمرارها واستقرار شؤون حياتها فمثلاً نجد في القرآن الكريم سور باسم (الشمس - القمر - النجم)

ويعتبر علم دراسة الكون وأصله ونشأته وتكوينه وبنيته هو أحد فروع علم الفيزياء الفلكية و في حقيقة الأمر يعتبر علم دراسة الكون مثله مثل الدراسات والعلوم المعرفية ولكنه متصل بشكل ما بكل العلوم فهو بمثابة الخيط الخفي الذي يربط العلوم ببعضها وهذا باختصار لإن منذ بداية الخليقة والكون محط اهتمام الإنسان ويبحث دائما عن أجوبة لتك كل الأسئلة المتعلقة بماهية الكون وهل نحن وحدنا أم لا وهل الأرض ثابتة أم تدور حول الشمس...إلخ

و في الآونة الأخيرة، لعبت الفيزياء والفيزياء الفلكية دورا محوريا في تشكيل فهم الكون من خلال الملاحظة والتجربة العلمية، أو ما يعرف باسم علم الكون المادي من خلال شكل كل من الرياضيات والمراقبة في تحليل الكون كله. وبعبارة أخرى، في هذا التخصص، الذي يركز على الكون كما هو موجود على أكبر نطاق وفي أقرب وقت ممكن.

و قد إقترح بعض العلماء أن للكون قوانين فيزيائية قد حكمت تاريخ الكون بكامله أي نحن ليس سو مجرد نظرية من تلك النظريات الفيزيائية وكان أول من اقترح نظريات كون شخصية تحكمها القوانين الفيزيائية التي كتبها روجر بيكون. أيد في وقت لاحق ديمتري غرين فيتش قوانين بيكون المقترحة من خلال بعض التجارب التي كانت تنطوي على القوانين الفيزيائية المختلفة. بين مجالات الدين والعلم، وتقف من وجهة نظر فلسفية ميتافيزيقية علم الكونيات. هذا الميدان القديم يسعى لدراسة واستخلاص استنتاجات بديهية حول طبيعة الكون، الرجل، هو والخالق وعلاقاتهم على أساس تمديد مجموعة من الحقائق المفترضة اقترضت من الخبرة الروحية والمراقبة.
