هو أول مصحف في تاريخ الإسلام، وهو كبير جدا والسبب أنه مكتوب
بخط اليد وليس مطبوعا. المصحف المنسوب لعثمان بن عفان رضي الله
عنه المحفوظ بالقاهرة بالمشهد الحسيني. وهو نسخة ثمينة نادرة تشمل
كل سور القرآن الكريم مكتوبة بالخط الكوفي الذي كتبت به المصاحف في
عهد عثمان بن عفان رضي الله عنه.
يتكون هذا المصحف من 1087 ورقة من الرق من القطع الكبير،
وقياسها 57 سم ×68 سم ، وعدد الأسطر 12 سطراً، وارتفاعه 40 سم ،
ووزنه 80 كيلوغرام ، ومكتوب بمداد داكن، وبخط مكي يناسب القرن الهجري
الأول، خال من النقط والزخارف الخطية، وتوجد فواصل بين السور عبارة
عن رسوم نباتية متعددة الألوان.
