صدّام حسين أسوأ بـ 20 مرّة من بشّار الأسد

وصف رئيس الوزراء البريطاني الأسبق، طوني بلير، الرئيس العراقي الراحل صدّام حسين بأنه أسوأ 20 مرة من الرئيس السوري بشّار الأسد، واعترف بأنه لم يكن يتوقع أن تكون الحياة اليومية في العراق كما هي عليه اليوم، حين قرّر المشاركة في الغزو الذي قادته الولايات المتحدة عام 2003 للإطاحة بنظامه.
وقال بلير اليوم الثلاثاء، "هناك تحسينات كبيرة في العراق، لكنها لم تكن كما ينبغي بسبب استمرار الهجمات الإرهابية"، مصرّاً على أن الوضع في عهد صدّام حسين كان أسوأ بكثير بالمقارنة مع الوضع الحالي.

وأضاف أن العالم "ليس أكثر أماناً بالمقارنة مع ما كان عليه قبل 10 سنوات، غير أنه أكثر أماناً مما سيكون عليه لو بقي صدّام حسين في السلطة، والثمن الذي دفعه الجنود البريطانيون والمدنيون العراقيون خلال الحملة العسكرية للتخلّص منه كان مرتفعاً".

وأشار بلير، الذي يشغل حالياً منصب مبعوث اللجنة الرباعية لعملية السلام في الشرق الأوسط، إلى أن "أعداداً كبيرة من الناس عانوا تحت حكم صدّام حسين، كما قُتل عدد كبير في المناطق الكردية وخلال الحرب العراقية ـ الإيرانية في ظل نظامه".

وقال إنه "يفكر بالناس الذين قُتلوا جرّاء الغزو وتأثير ذلك على أسرهم، لكنه في النهاية أنتُخب كرئيس للوزراء لاتخاذ مثل هذه القرارات، ولو لم تتم إزاحة صدّام حسين من السلطة فيمكن تخيّل ما كان سيحدث لو أن هذه الثورات العربية استمرت الآن وحاول صدّام، الذي هو أسوأ 20 مرة من الرئيس السوري بشّار الأسد، قمع إنتفاضة في العراق".

وأضاف بلير أنه "يفكر في الخسائر البشرية منذ غزو العراق عام 2003 لأنه سيكون غير إنساني لو لم يفعل، لكن يتعيّن على الجميع التفكير في ما كان سيحدث لو أن صدّام حسين بقي في السلطة".

واعترف رئيس الوزراء البريطاني الأسبق بأن قضية العراق "ما تزال تشكل مسألة خلافية للغاية، وجعلته يتخلى منذ فترة طويلة عن محاولة إقناع الناس بأن المشاركة في الغزو كان قراراً صحيحاً".

وقال إن فهم التعقيدات الكاملة لقرار الغزو "أمر حيوي لكون العالم يواجه مشاكل مماثلة في سوريا وإيران".

وفقدت بريطانيا 179 جندياً جرّاء مشاركتها في غزو العراق الذي قادته القوات الأمريكية في العشرين من مارس 2003، قبل سحب قواتها من هناك في أفريل 2009.
