يروى أن ملكا أراد أن يستأثر بالملك ولم يكن له ولد وإنما بنت فقط وقد بلغت سن الزواج ولم يشأ أن يزوجها مخافة ذهاب ملكه فوضع شرط لمن يطلب يد إبنته فإن حقق الشرط زوجه وإن لم يحقق الشرط قتله , فبدأ الفرسان والشجعان يتوافدون على قصره وكان كل من دخل قصره قتله , وشاع الخبر في المملكة وهلك الشباب بسبب هذا الشرط الظالم فمشى بعض المشايخ إلى حكيم في المملكة وهو شاب ذا دهاء وعقل فألحوا عليه بأن يخلصهم من هذه المكيدة التي راح ضحيتها شباب المملكة

توجه الشاب إلى قصر الملك وطلب يد الاميرة وكان شرط الملك كالتالي

عليك أن تشرب ماء البحر كله ولا تبقي منه قطرة واحدة فإن لم تستطع ضربت عنقك
وكان الناس خارج القصر يرتقبون هل ينتصر الحكيم على الملك
نعم كانت المعجزة لقد وافق الحكيم على شرب ماء البحر وخرج موكب الملك
شاقا طريقه على جانب النهر إلى الشاطئ والناس ترقب كيف يتخلص الحكيم من الورطة ويفوز بالاميرة

وكان ذالك واستطاع الحكيم تلبية الشرط والفوز بالاميرة

فهل تخبرونا كيف تصرف الحكيم

السلام عليكم

من المنقول أن لقمان الحكيم كان عبدا نوبيا أسود, وقد أعطاه الله تعالى الحكمة, وكان لرجل من بني إسرائيل اشتراه بثلاثين مثقالا ونش "يعني نصف مثقال " وكان يعمل له وكان مولاه يلعب بالنرد يقامر عليه وكان على بابه نهر جار .
فلعب يوما بالنرد على أن من قمر صاحبه شرب الماء الذي في النهر كله أو افتدى منه ,وإن هو قمر صاحبه فعل مثل ذلك
قال : فقمر سيد لقمان ---- فقال له القامر :اشرب ما في النهر والا فافتد منه
قال :فسلني الفداء
قال:عينيك افقؤهم "اي افقعهما والفقع للعينين والقطع للأذن والأنف " أو جميع ما تملك ,قال :امهلني يومي هذا
قال:لك ذلك.
قال :فأمسى كئيبا حزينا إذ جاءه لقمان وقد حمل حزمة على ظهره,فسلم على سيده ثم وضع ما معه ورجع إلى سيده , وكان سيده إذا رآه عبث به ويسمع منه الكلمة الحكيمة فيعجب منه
فلما جلس قال لسيده : مالي أراك حزينا فأعرض عنه .
فقالها ثانية وثالثة فأعرض عنه ثم قال لقمان "عليه السلام" أخبرني فلعل لذلك عندي فرجا فقص عليه القصة .
فقال له سيدنا لقمان : لا تغتم فإن لك عندي فرجا قال:ماهو ؟
قال إذا أتاك الرجل فقال لك اشرب ما في النهر فقل له :أشرب ما بين ضفتي النهر أو المد ؟
فإنه سيقول لك :ما بين الضفتين فقل له :احبس عني المد حتى أشرب ما بين الضفتين ,فإنه لا يتسطيع أن يحبس عنك المد وتكون قد خرجت مما ضمنت له فعرف سيده أنه صدق ,فطابت نفسه
فلما أصبح جاءه الرجل فقال له :فِ بشرطي "أصلها في أي أوفي بشرطى"
قال له :نعم أشرب ما بين الضفتين أو المد ؟
قال: لا بل ما بين الضفتين ,قال :فاحبس عني المد .قال :كيف أستطيع؟
قال :فخضمه "أي أفحمه وأسكته " فأعتقه مولاه.
