العراق ثالث أكبر بلد في العالم في تنفيذ أحكام الإعدام
iصبح العراق ثالث أكبر بلد في العالم في تنفيذ أحكام الإعدام لا سيما بحق السجناء خلال الأشهر الماضية، وذلك أكثر مما فعل خلال عقد من الزمن تقريباً، وفقاً لتقرير ستصدره منظمة العفو الدولية هذا الأسبوع. وقالت صحيفة "اندبندانت أون صندي"، اليوم الأحد، إن المنظمة ستكشف في تقريرها أن العراق شهد أكبر زيادة في عمليات الإعدام من أي مكان آخر في العالم خلال الأشهر الاثني عشر الماضية، وأعدم ما لا يقل عن 129 شخصاً العام الماضي، أي ما يعادل تقريباً ضعف عمليات الإعدام في عام 2011 وأعلى رقم خلال السنوات الثماني الماضية. واضافت، نقلاً عن التقرير، أن العراق اعدم 16 شخصاً منذ جانفي الماضي، من بينهم أربعة في الأسبوع الماضي وحده، وتم تنفيذ معظم عمليات الإعدام بتهم تتعلق بالإرهاب أو القتل وفي اطار محاكمات فشلت غالبيتها في الوفاء بالمعايير الدولية للمحاكمات العادلة، بما في ذلك استخدام الاعترافات المتنزعة تحت التعذيب وغيره من ضروب سوء المعاملة. ونسبت الصحيفة إلى مديرة منظمة العفو الدولية فرع المملكة المتحدة، كيت ألن، قولها "إن العالم يتجه الآن نحو إلغاء أو التخفيف على الأقل من عقوبة الإعدام، لكن العراق خالف هذا الاتجاه بطريقة مزعجة ونشاهد اليوم نطاقاً مذهلاً من عمليات الإعدام في العراق يعود بنا إلى الأيام القديمة السيئة من الإعدامات الواسعة النطاق في عهد صدام حسين". وتقول منظمة العفو الدولية في تقريرها إن أحكام الإعدام في العراق نُفّذت على دفعات، وجرى إعدام 34 شخصاً في يوم واحد خلال جوان الماضي، من بينهم خمس نساء كما تم الحكم على اثنتين أخريين على الأقل بالإعدام. ونقلت الصحيفة عن متحدث باسم وزارة الخارجية البريطانية قوله "إن حكومة المملكة المتحدة قلقة للغاية بشأن الزيادة في حالات الإعدام في العراق وتعارض استخدام هذه العقوبة على سبيل المبدأ، وسنستمر في حث الحكومة العراقية على إصدار قرار بوقف تنفيذ هذه العقوبة بهدف إلغائها".
