رائحة الفم الكريهة تزعج الملايين وعلاجها سهل

تتجنب إيدا ألفاريز المحادثات القريبة، بسبب رائحة الفم الكريهة، وهى مشكلة يعانى منها إلى جانب إيدا نحو 90 مليون أمريكى، ربما يستطيعون تغيير ذلك الواقع بطريقة بسيطة.

وتقول ألفاريز، 31 عاما، "هذا وضع محرج كان هناك دائما مذاق مر فى فمى، ولكن لم أكن أريد أن أسأل أى شخص إذا كانت أنفاسى ذات رائحة سيئة لأننى كنت خائفة من رد سلبى".

ويقول مختصون إن أول علاج المشكلة هو تحديدها، وأول شىء يجب هو معرفة إذا كانت رائحة أنفاس الشخص جيدة أم سيئة، فمعظم الناس لهم رائحة أنفاس نتنة لكنهم لا يعرفون ذلك، لأن الدماغ يتأقلم على رائحة المرء الشخصية.

وهناك وسائل للتشخيص الذاتى أولها اختيار اللسان، ومعرفة ما هو لونه؟ فإذا كان ورديا لامعا فهذا يشير إلى نفس جيد، غير أن اللسان الأبيض والمتقشر فى مظهره يشير إلى رائحة فم كريهة، وفقا لهارولد كاتز طبيب البكتيريا ومؤسس عيادة التنفس بولاية كاليفورنيا.

والاختبار الثانى، وفقا لكاتز هو لعق الجزء الخلفى من اليد، وتركها لتجف لبضع ثوان، ثم محاولة شم رائحة المكان ذاته.

وأضاف كاتز "من المهم أن نتذكر أن رائحة الفم الكريهة هى عادة ليست دليلا على صحة الأسنان فالأسنان الفاسدة تجعل رائحة الفم الكريهة.. والأمر نفسه بالنسبة للسان،" مشيرا إلى أنه "تم العثور على أكثر من 600 نوع من البكتيريا فى فم الشخص العادى.".

ولكن ما هى الطريقة المثلى لمحاربة البكتيريا المسببة لرائحة الفم الكريهة؟ بحسب الخبراء فإن جفاف الفم هو أهم سبب يجعله هدفا للبكتيريا، لذلك لا بد من الإكثار من السوائل.

يقول كاتز "اللعاب فيه أوكسجين، ما يجعله العدو الطبيعى للبكتيريا كريهة الرائحة، فهى لا تستطيع العيش فى وجود الأكسجين، وشرب الماء وحتى مضغ العلكة الخالية من السكر يمكن ان ينتج اللعاب وبشكل طبيعى للتخلص من رائحة الفم الكريهة".

وظهرت حبوب النعناع الخالية من السكر أو غسول الفم، وهى حلول يقول عنها كاتز إنها ليست سيئة، ولكنها علاجات مؤقتة فقط، وسوف تحجب الرائحة ولكن لا تقتل البكتيريا التى تسبب الرائحة.

ويقول كاتز إن "الشاى الأخضر له خصائص مضادة للبكتيريا التى تسبب الرائحة الكريهة، كما أن القرفة تحتوى على الزيوت الأساسية التى تقتل العديد من أنواع البكتيريا عن طريق الفم".

كما أن تناول الفاكهة والخضروات، مثل التفاح أو الكرفس، يقدم فوائد مزدوجة لسوء التنفس، ومضغ المزيد منها ينتج المزيد من اللعاب فى الفم، ووفقا لكاتز، فإن البطيخ والتوت يساعدان على مكافحة رائحة الفم أيضا.
