انتهاء الحظر الذي يفرضه الاتحاد الأوروبي على إمداد المعارضة السورية بالسلاح
قال وزير الخارجية البريطاني وليام هيغ أمس الاثنين أن فشل حكومات الاتحاد الأوروبي في الاتفاق على مد العمل بحظر السلاح المفروض على سوريا ينهي فعليا الحظر الذي يفرضه الإتحاد على إمداد المعارضة السورية بالسلاح.وقال بعد محادثات لوزراء خارجية الاتحاد "لقد وضعنا نهاية لحظر السلاح المفروض على المعارضة السورية."

لكن هيغ قال إن بلاده لا تنوي تسليح المقاتلين السوريين المعارضين "على الفور" رغم قرار الإتحاد.

وأوضح هيغ إثر اجتماع مع نظرائه الأوروبيين في بروكسل "رغم أن لا خطة فورية لدينا لإرسال أسلحة الى سوريا، فإن رفع الحظر يتيح لنا القيام بذلك مستقبلا إذا استمر تدهور الوضع".

وكان دبلوماسيون في الاتحاد الأوروبي قالوا إن حكومات الاتحاد توصلت إلى إتفاق سياسي بمد العمل بكل العقوبات الاقتصادية والمالية على سوريا.

وتدعم بريطانيا وفرنسا تخفيف حظر السلاح المقرر انتهاء مدته بحلول 31 ماي الجاري. وترى الدولتان أن هذه الخطوة ستدفع تجاه الوصول لحل سياسي للأزمة السورية.

لكن العديد من دول الاتحاد الأوروبي تعارض رفع الحظر على السلاح.

من جهتها، أكدت وزيرة خارجية الاتحاد كاثرين اشتون أن تقديم السلاح "يهدف الى حماية المدنيين" ويخضع لعدد من الشروط، وخصوصا لجهة مراقبة الجهات التي سيسلم لها بهدف تجنب وصوله الى مجموعات "متطرفة".

وسيقوم الاتحاد الاوروبي "بتقييم موقفه قبل الأول من أوت"، خصوصا في ضوء نتائج مؤتمر "جنيف2" الذي بادرت الولايات المتحدة وروسيا الى اقتراح تنظيمه.

وأوضحت اشتون أنه تم تمديد بقية العقوبات بحق النظام السوري لاثني عشر شهرا، علما بأنها تستهدف شخصيات وكيانات في النظام وتلحظ أيضا سلسلة تدابير تجارية ومالية.
