Well, it was a day full of ups and downs....
Allison has been released to go home as of tonight at 8:00pm. She will be tended
by home hospice and she is resting very well and will be made as comfortable as
possible.
As most of you know, Allison, 15, is the daughter of Candy and Joe Olberding.
Allison had surgery on March 2nd, to correct a curvature of the spine that was
already at 65 degrees. The surgery went well, but the aftermath of the surgery,
obviously, has not. Due to the weakened condition of Allison over the course of
the last 4 1/2 weeks, Allison's physical state has progressively worsened.
Allison had crashed on 3 different occasions and her lungs are just not strong
enough anymore to support her. As of now, the left lung is almost totally gone
and the right lung is not operating effectively. The Olberdings are not going to
permanently incubate, and they as a family have prayerfully reached a decision
to let nature take its course.
Candy is my DIQ, from the Garrett Unit and is one of the most incredible women
one will ever meet. Candy has inspired hundreds of women across the country with
her perseverance, tenacity, passion and compassion. MANY women in BeautiControl,
know Candy and admire her because of these traits.
These next few days, the Olberdings' will need are prayers. What is needed for
the next few days are some lunches and dinners. they are a family of four and
they have medical help in their house as well...so please plan for at least 5 -6
people. If you are interested in providing a meal, please contact me at
