hi guys, i want to give you this topic as a gift, as we are celebrating the new year, i will try to translate a children's story about Christmas for you, although my major is not English at all. so if you find something wrong, please come in and post the good sentence

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
في ليلة من ليالي عيد ميلاد المسيح ، عندما كان الجميع في المنزل
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
لا مخلوق حرّك ساكنا ، ولا حتى فأر ؛
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
وقد علّقت جوارب الهدايا قرب المدخنة بعناية ،
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
على أمل أنّ القديس نيكولاس قريبا سيكون هناك ؛
The children were nestled all snug in their beds
أما الأطفال فقد أووا لينعموا بالدفئ إلى مضاجعهم ،
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;
بينما كانت ترقص في رؤوسهم رؤى الحلويّات السّكريّة ؛
And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,
كانت أمّي متوشّحة منديلها ، و كنت أنا في غطائي قد خمدت للتوّ في غفوة شتويّة ،
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
و فجأة ارتفعت هناك عند المرجة كالجلبة ،
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
وثبتُ من السرير لرؤية ما الخطب.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
وانطلقت كومضة البرق متّجها نحو النّافذة ،
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
ففتحت المصاريع ملقيا وشاحها .
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow, Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,
و قد تصدّر القمر تلك الثلوج التي بدأت تتساقط ، فبدا للكائنات متلألأ كما لو كان في منتصف النّهار ،
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,
عندما لم تبصر عيناي الحالمتان إلا ماينبغي أن يكون عربة تزلّج، وثمانية أيايل صغيرة ،
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
مع سائق كبير السنّ و لكنّه حيوي وسريع جدّا ،
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
و في لحظة عرفت أنّه لا بد أن يكون القدّيس نيك ( البابا نويل ).
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
أمّا جيادُه القادمة فكانت أسرع من النّسور ،
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
و كان هو يصفّر، ويصيح ، ويناديهم بالاسم ؛
"Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
"الآن ، أيّها القاذف! هيّا أيّها الرّاقص! الآن ، و أنت أيّها الحصان الواثب و المشاكس!
On, Comet! on Cupid! on, Donder and Blitzen!
تحرّكي أيّتها المذنّبات! أيّتها النّجوم المغيرة!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
انطلقي إلى قمّة الشرفة! انطلقي إلى أعلى الحائط! "
Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"
الآن ابتعدوا ! هيّا ابتعدوا! ابتعدوا كلّكم
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly, When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
كالأوراق الجافة التي تتطاير في السّماء قبل أن تعصف الأعاصير البريّة ، حينما تلتقي مع عقبة ما
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
كذلك كانت تلك الجياد تحلّق فوق المنزل ،
With the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.
و كانت عربة التزلّج مليئة بالألعاب ، والقديس نيكولاس أيضا.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
و في طرفة عين سمعتُ على سطح البيت خشخشة و وقع حوافرها صغيرة.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around, Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.
و ما أن اتّجهت مستديرا نحوها ، حتّى وثب القدّيس نيكولاس أسفل المدخنة
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot
كان يرتدي ثيابا من فرو ، من رأسه إلى أخمص قدميه ،
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;
كانت ملابسه كلّها ملطّخة بالرماد والسخام ؛
A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
وقد ألقى على ظهره حزمة من الألعاب ،
And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.
بدا كما لو كان بائعا متجوّلا قد فتح للتوّ حزمته.
His eyes -- how they twinkled! his dimples how merry! His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
عيناه! -- كيف كانتا تتلألآن! غمّازتاه كيف كانتا بهيجتين! بوجنتين مثل الورود ، وأنف كحبّة كرز!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
أما فمه الصّغير الطّريف فارتسم كأنّه قوس ،
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;
و كانت على ذقنه لحية بيضاء مثل الثلج ؛
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth, And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath;
ممسكا بين أسنانه أنبوبا من الغليون ، والدخان يطوّق رأسه كأنّه سحابة ؛
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook, when he laughed like a bowlful of jelly.
بوجه رحب وبطن مستديرة ،تهتزّ عندما يضحك كأنّها وعاء من هلام.
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
وكان ريّانا ممتلئ الجسم ،بحقّ قزم كبير بهيّ ،
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;
وعندما رأيته أرغمت على الضحك ،
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head, Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;
فغمزة بعينه وهزّة برأسه ، سرعان ما دلّتني على أنّه ليس هناك داع للقلق ؛
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
لم ينبس ببنت شفة ، ولكنّه ذهب مباشرة إلى مهمّته ،
And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk, And laying his finger aside of his nose, And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;
فملأ كل جوارب الهدايا ، ثم رجع يهتزّ ، ووضع إصبعه حيال أنفه ، وأعطى إشارة مرتقيّا نحو قمّة المدخنة؛
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
،And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
قفز إلى عربته ، و أطلق لفريقه صفيرا،ثمّ حلّقوا مبتعدين كأنّهم شذرات الحسك المتطايرة .
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,
و قبل أن يختفي عن الأنظار ،سمعته يصيح :
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night."
"عيد ميلاد سعيد للجميع ، وليلة سعيدة للكلّ".
