MOST OF THE ALGERIANS HAVE AN IDEA THAT LA COSTE WAS A GENERAL IN THE FRENCH ARMY. IN FACT: Lacoste is a French company and was formed in 1933 by French tennis player, Rene Lacoste. It was during the 1926 US open championship which Rene won which seen him wear the first sport performance clothing. Rene wore a cotton polo shirt which was supposed to reduce sweat. After the 1926 championship win, Rene's friend drew him a crocodile which he embroidered onto his tennis shirts. This was to become known as Lacoste's famous logo and is still evident on all Lacoste products today.THANKS
